WASHINGTON - February 10, 2017 -
Reports from news media and immigrant rights advocates indicate new Trump administration immigration enforcement raids are underway in several states, including Arizona, California, Texas, North Carolina, and Georgia. Advocates and media outlets are reporting chaos in schools and communities affected by the raids. In a North Carolina community, students witnessed arrests. Other communities are reporting that immigration agents are following schools buses.
The following joint statement can be attributed to NEA President Lily Eskelsen García and Texas State Teachers Association President Noel Candelaría:
"Children are fearful to go to school. Parents are desperately trying to find guardians for their children in the event they are detained or deported. We've seen this before. And it's happening again. This time, it is happening in the middle of the night or as students load up buses and head to school. This time it is happening without any oversight, review, or due process.
"The current raids are beyond reprehensible, they are inhumane, and they are a deliberate and coordinated attack on those who come to America seeking safety, freedom, and opportunity, and, in the process, make America a better country.
"These shocked and frightened families are our friends and our neighbors. Our students are collateral damage as a result of these raids. The heightened environment of intimidation and fear in immigrant neighborhoods is carried into classrooms by traumatized students.
"As the Trump administration threatens our students, their families, and our way of life, we will not stay silent. As families turn to their childrens educators for solace and advice, we are going accelerate ongoing efforts to create and implement commonsense policies like our public school safe zones where all students are welcome. Public school safe zones allow school boards to go on the record to that they won't allow immigration enforcement agents into their schools without a proper review process and that they are committed to the protection of student privacy via practices ensuring that no data is being collected with respect to students immigration status or place of birth.
"We call on the Trump administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to put an immediate stop to these abhorrent immigration raids in our communities."

They are desperately trying to find someone to take care of their kids but they weren’t so desperate when they packed their kids onto trains crossing Mexico in order to cross our border ILLEGALLY! They entrusted their kids to strangers and had them put on buses to some far off parts of the United States. Boohoo boohoo. No more tears for these professional grifters and their young grifters in training.
An unexpected consequence is school and recreational athletic leagues
will have a decline in quality of play. The illegals took spots on teams that
developed players for each next level. My guess is that it will take 6 years for
all age levels to be replenished with equal skills. The exception might
be basketball.
They gave 3% to Republicans so they could claim that they were bipartisan. Give me a break!
Deport them all.
Well their criminal parents should have thought of that before they brought them here.
Good
a day without illegal alien children in the classroom is a day the subjects are taught in English only and the American citizen students learn something...
Provide free bus tickets south to all who want to self deport !
It is long past the time that illegals should be living in fear. We now need to 100% E verify and starve them out.
PING
I’d pitch in for that.
Why are they fearful?
1. Because they know they are here illegally, as are their parents?
2. Or because in spite of them being here legally, the media and the NEA and others have hyped up the Presidents LEGAL immigration enforcement measures and they, the kids, have been taught, wrongly, that they too should be “afraid”?
In the former case, the parents can self-deport with their children, keeping the family together. In the later case they are being used for the Left’s political agenda, which has zero, zilch, nada with “protecting” LEGAL immigrants.
The children’s parents would not even be here with them if “progressive” judges had not previously ruled, in error, that our education system is REQUIRED to educate the children of illegal immigrants who should not be earning any money here, legally. That set up many current problems where illegal immigrants were insured of getting government benefits here, in spite of remaining here illegally. Conservatives, through actions initiated by states where we hold majorities failed to adamantly challenge those court rulings.
It is a certainty that most of these tales are false. Good. Let the rumors bloom and imaginations run wild.
Some of these “innocent” children will grow to be domestic enemies.
This lawlessness has been going on far longer than Obama’s term, W. Bush and Clinton were already enabling the illegals and the Democrats had started their sanctuary cities project more than twenty years ago.
It seems to me that with all the education we have provided the Mexican could move south and set up communities to open their own schools or home school in communities as we have been forced to do.
It’s their own governments failure to protect her people that have caused this crisis
And they can take their bizarre diseases with them!
Did you see some of the young kids at anti-Trump demonstrations using all sorts of foul language and behavior? I am talking about kids who were in grade school.
They didn’t demand? What’d they do, lose an ovary?
Time to start investigating schoolboards to determine if they’re aiding and abetting felons. If they are, arrest them.
