ICE Arrests 160 in Sweeping California Enforcement, Possibly More Across 6 States

Federal immigration authorities arrested at least 160 illegal aliens over multiple days and across multiple states in what the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is calling “routine” immigration enforcement actions.

Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Gillian Christensen confirmed to the Washington Post that “routine” immigration enforcement actions were taken this week in Los Angeles, California; Atlanta, Georgia; and two other cities that were not identified. The enforcement actions took place at home and workplaces.

The spokesperson noted it was an unprecedented step to issue statements on such raids while they were ongoing, but fast-spreading social media commentary triggered the agency to comment in this case.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attested that 160 illegal aliens were arrested in the southern Californian region, including Los Angeles, according to NBC San Diego. The report stated that those with criminal histories and deportation orders were targeted over a five-day sweep.

If someone could post a picture of Elián González being taken at gunpoint and then post the phrase “Remember when deporting illegal aliens was a good thing?”

Word of mouth in this case Rumors is the best thing going right now. Put the fear of God in them in the sense of being arrested and that means some, not all of course, will self deport. It’s a start but it’s better than status quo

Actually, this ain't rocket science. With the right incentives and enforcing E-verify, most will self deport. The remainders will need to be physically deported.

Our biggest challenge is our own people sabotaging the operation.

All I know is, that in South Florida, if you had to go to the ER, wear an ICE hat and the waiting room empties out in seconds, ensuring you prompt service.

Thanks for the tip! I bet it would work most anywhere...

"Federal immigration authorities arrested at least 160 illegal aliens over multiple days and across multiple states..."

Music to America's ears.

Thank you, President Trump. I hope to hear ever increasing reports of this type until this national scourge has ended.

You have to start somewhere...

Why not terminate all federal, state, and local welfare benefits to those here illegally. That should help illegals come to a decision to self-deport.

many will self-deport.

Especially after the President cuts off their jobs and welfare benefits. The southbound exodus will be epic.

I used to live in CA. I recall a proposition passed that said something similar. Denying welfare to illegals. But a judge struck it down.

Anyone remember that?

“Remember when deporting illegal aliens was a good thing?”

Sadly, Elián González was here legally, under the wet foot/dry foot doctrine.

...word is spreading that ICE means business.

Stop for a moment and try to recall the last time we saw this level of immigration enforcement.

It almost brings tears to my eyes, it's been so long.

Prop 187? Nope, don’t remember it at all.

I’m glad I moved out of that benighted state.

Hopefully the border will see lots of action in the other direction.

That is exactly the result of immigration enforcement done right.

Make living conditions here so untenable, that illegals find it more to their benefit to return to their countries of origin.

The other side of the coin that needs to be explored is how to treat businesses that have been knowingly hiring them. Part of the problem is that if “everybody is doing it” and you don’t, you will be driven out of business.

Some of us small business owners have resisted the temptation and financial incentives to hiring illegals.

My family has lost at least a million dollars to the illegal horde over the last decade or so, but we've just gritted our teeth and soldiered on.

Now that we have a president who has promised to send the unfair competition packing, we finally have hope that we can once again make an honest and profitable living.

Key to that, will be driving the illegals from the national workforce. If President Trump does that, my family will be eternally grateful.
