Are you concerned that Neil Gorsuch belongs to a far-left church?
American Thinker ^ | 02/10/2017 | Ed Straker

President Obama was criticized by Republicans for attending a church led by Jeremiah Wright, who repeatedly criticized the United States for being, in his own opinion, an evil terrorist nation.  People wondered, how could Obama sit through sermons like that, year after year?  Didn't that mean that at the very least, Obama didn't have any serious problems with what Wright was saying?

Well, we saw after eight years of Obama that that was probably true – that Obama saw America in a bad light.  That's why he kept trying to "fundamentally transform" it.

But what about Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch?  He belongs to a far-left church that embraces marriage redefinition, gun control, and the theory of man-caused global warming.

He belongs to St. John's Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colo., the Episcopal diocese of Colorado confirmed on Wednesday. Church bulletins show that the judge has been an usher three times in recent months. His wife Louise frequently leads the intercessory prayer and reads the weekly Scripture at Sunday services, and his daughters assist in ceremonial duties during church services as acolytes.

The first word that St. John's uses to describe itself on its website and Facebook page is "inclusive," and the church is led by a female rector. On its website, the church encourages members to write letters to Congress asking for actions addressing climate change.

That's not all.  Its website also calls for members to lobby their congressmen for more gun control.

And more:

Rev. Susan Springer has said she is pro-gay marriage and offers blessings to same-sex couples

The church's Rev. Ted Howard also signed a letter slamming the 'disrespectful rhetoric' directed at Islam as Trump floated a ban on Muslim immigrants[.] ...

Yes, this is a potential problem.

Yup. So Justice Thomas and I each attend a liberal church.

LOL. Thor may not be so bad, but frankly, I’d worry if he worshipped Aphrodite.

I wonder how long Gorsuch has gone to his liberal-leaning church. Perhaps it’s changed during the years of his membership, but he stays because his friends are there, it’s in the neighborhood, his wife insists, his kids were baptized there, he already contributed thousands to the building fund…could be all of the above. The social aspects of membership are often more compelling than anything else. So give him a break.

He accepted President Bush’s appointment to the court.
The court is in Boulder.
I guess he could have turned it down, but would you?

The fact that a person belongs to a church led by pro-gay and pro-Muslim ministers speaks volumes about that person. This is disconcerting new.

Perhaps his wife drags him there. ;)

God plants some believers in lukewarm or worse churches to be a light.

Some believers are only believers in the parts they want to be and belong to churches that reflect that.

I’m not sure which may be Neil’s case.

God knows and I trust God with this matter.

I totally understand what you are saying. I have family and friends who are life-long members of a few different denominations and they take the opposite view of the church. Why are they still there? Lifelong members, active in church affairs, baptized in the church......

If it meant exposing my kids to the "culture" of Boulder?

Yeah, probably.

Decisions like those have consequences.

If it quacks like one of Bush's fiscally "conservative" progressive log-cabin RINOs... it's probably a duck.

Why is this personal information made public at such a late date? It indicates sloppy vetting of the candidate. This is definitely not an example of Trump winning.

Many guys only attend a church because their wives like it.

the only reason I don’t jettison the contemporary Catholic Mass in favor of the Traditional: I would never hear the end of it from my wife...

Yes I'm very concerned, this guy should be withdrawn. Nothing good for the conservative principles of following the constitution will come out of him.

Not looking good. Someone posted this link on another thread.

TRUMP MUST BREAK JUDICIAL POWER Pat Buchanan: 'A clipping of the court's wings is long overdue'

“Disheartening and demoralizing,” wailed Judge Neil Gorsuch of President Trump’s comments about the judges seeking to overturn his 90-day ban on travel to the U.S. from the Greater Middle East war zones.

What a wimp. Did our future justice break down crying like Sen. Chuck Schumer? Sorry, this is not Antonin Scalia. And just what horrible thing had our president said?..."

Of Gorsuch, Trump said,"evangelicals, Christians will love my pick.". Not likely.

He was at the Justice Department in DC before he accepted the appointment, so maybe he thought Boulder was a better environment.

I agree with you. I can’t see how any real conservative can sit under church leadership that preaches ultra-liberal propaganda. Yes, this concerns me greatly.

Hmmm. This church allowing open sodomites to serve as clergy sends a pretty strong message. Gorsuch might belong to the church because of family and tradition rather than his own strict adherence to it’s beliefs. It is something that concerns me, though, especially because Trump himself is squishy on homo issues.

Too many people don’t educate themselves on the insidious threat posed by the lavender mafia and I certainly want the person filling Justice Scalia’s seat to have no ambiguous feelings about how dangerous they are and how forcefully they need to be dealt with. There is no middle ground and no compromise. They are an immediate threat to our freedom.
