Speaking to a conference crowd of local law enforcement officers and leaders in Washington Wednesday, President Trump slammed the courts for what he perceives as lawyering of straight forward immigration law the White House is using to justify his recent travel ban.
Standing at the lectern, Trump read aloud title eight, chapter 12 of U.S. Code which states: "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on entry of aliens any restrictions may deem to be appropriate."

Because he thinks the 9th Circus is going to show its *** to the country again?
I doubt the timid and uber-wealthy people in Congress (the very establishment) will help here...and if they do, it will be very slow going as well. Look at what is happening to tax reform and the Obamacare repeal right now.
It is nearly impossible to reform a system from within a system...unless you do so over generations. The system itself fights you and your wins a exceedingly incremental, taking decades to bear fruit. You can only reform systems from the outside...so it becomes either a consistent generational campaign (such as the Left effectively used to take over almost all of our institutions, public and private over the last 60 years), acquiescence or Civil War. Those pretty much are the three options.
In fact, he could have accomplished everything laid out in the Executive Order without ever issuing it -- simply by having the Dept. of Homeland Security stop allowing people from those seven nations to enter the U.S. without any fanfare at all.
The whole purpose of the EO was to set up a public battle with the Federal courts over an issue where most Americans -- and 100% of the people who voted for Trump -- are on Trump's side.
Yes, you make a very good point. Cut the funding for this terrorist organization and it will fall apart. Soros needs to be brought in on charges of criminal conspiracy, funding a organized riot, etc..
I’m assuming this is going to happen. Because if it isn’t going to happen, then we may as well just surrender to the witch now...
Lead, follow, or get out of the way. History books will write about what is going to happen next, because it will either describe the saving of our nation, or its destruction.
I always use the term of illegal aliens when discussing them on various forums. It is the correct and appropriate term. More should use it. Both R’s and The Media. Undocumented immigrants is a bastardization of the term illegal aliens and too many have “bought” into it.
With regards to the Supreme Court, it should be 7 - 0, because a vocal, continuous effort is necessary force Ginsburg recuse herself from the case because of her extreme prejudice against Trump. There are numerous political upsides to making this an issue once it leaves the 9th Circus.
There's no need for Congress to get involved here. They already did what they needed to do when they passed the law that authorized the president to issue his Executive Order in the first place.
How much more involved does Congress need to be when you have Trump standing there this morning reading directly from the statute Congress passed years ago? LOL.
I don’t think Congress is any help here at all either. Anything they do would probably be counter-productive in the end.
Pitchfork crowd is growing.
Trump could just issue a daily executive order extending the previous executive order for one more day. He can then withdraw the prior order each day and keep this out of the courts indefinitely.
The courts are out of control. I think Congress needs to reform these courts by limiting their jurisdiction. This should never have been heard by a single Circuit court Judge. By the plain language of the Constitution the Supreme Count has original jurisdiction.
As I've posted before, this entire charade is a farce. There is no way, no how, in any known alternative universe or timeline, that Trump loses over an issue of constitutional authority with respect to border control, armed force & national security.
The other item I keep mentioning, as do you, is that this is a law Congress ITSELF passed! I mean, seriously, how much more clear cut and obvious does it get? Trump is only the **executive** carrying out his lawfully delegated duties to uphold the law.
At some point, I almost feel like Woody screaming @ Buzz "You are a TOY!".
You seriously think the 4 liberal SC justices won’t support Robart and the 9th Circuit?
I see an almost certain 4-4 split.
The lib justices left supporting actual law ages ago, and regularly vote their feelings with no support of the law whatsoever......
He's doing his best to stay within the "normal" bounds of the law - even if it is being mutilated by so-called "judges" (will the MSM come after me for that quip?).
I would imagine he will end up proceeding but it would be best for the "judges"/9th Circus "court" be overturned to keep the howler monkeys of the left quiet about his "lawlessness".
These judges and the idiot judge that started this need to be impeached if they rule other than with Trump on this.
“Is General Kelly waffling? Maybe Kobach would have been a safer pick”
Kobach would have been excellent. If Kelly exits, I hope Kobach will be picked as his replacement.
You know what, P-M, that's a great point. I hadn't thought of that. You have a public minister (homeland security, president) and a state.
In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction.
SCOTUS is the _only_ court with jurisdiction in your dispute. It has ORIGINAL jurisdiction. If your _advisers_ had any sense, you would take the case _immediately_ to SCOTUS; and not _ever_ allow it to be heard in lower courts.
PERIOD.
A nation which is now filled with plenty of educated fools.
Common sense gets thrown out when you involve lawyers!
Because that's they way it works. Trump is not a dictator, he is bound by the law, and the courts get to say what the law is.
