Speaking to a conference crowd of local law enforcement officers and leaders in Washington Wednesday, President Trump slammed the courts for what he perceives as lawyering of straight forward immigration law the White House is using to justify his recent travel ban.
Standing at the lectern, Trump read aloud title eight, chapter 12 of U.S. Code which states: "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants, or impose on entry of aliens any restrictions may deem to be appropriate."

I pray you’re right.
That's a bit harsh.
I say imprison all the lawyers, and let them have illegal aliens as their 'legal counsel'. And then transfer them all to Mexico to meet with their counselors.
ILLEGAL ALIENS
...
They didn’t have much choice. “Alien” is used in the law cited.
Optics.
Trump should have just shown up for the hearing with a few extra secret service agents and ask to address the court. Then he should have told them off to their faces.
That would have been epic and a hecka of a lot better than just ignoring them from afar.
Trump has what’s known as street cred. .
The Democratic Party has since morphed into something far closer to the British Labour Party, than anything American.
He may just let the court system run its course. By reading the law, he has just telegraphed his next move. If the Supreme Court doesn’t reinstate the ban, DJT will ignore the order and not let those folks in. I can just see Federal Marshalls sent by SCOTUS to try to arrest DJT. I don’t think they want to go there. Wise Latina and her cohorts better behave or it could get very dicey.
Or don’t issue an EO at all and simply direct his departments to screen them out anyway. I agree Trump should withdraw the EO at this time and end the court case.
He should do that regardless. Something that halts all new visas for 120 days.
Thanks.
Where in Ohio? We’re from Lakewood and my dad born and raised in Coshocton.
Yeah, I hope there is something way beyond my paygrade going on here. I suspect it is, but in the meantime my blood is boiling.
Trump should issue a new EO shutting down all immigration until the courts rule on his first EO.
Consider a pro-Trump piece from the campaign, which addresses some of the underlying issues: "Whom We Are".
It’s clear the President is on firm lawful ground. This just shows how powerful we have allowed the courts to become over the past 100 years. The Washington State judge is a political hack. Let’s see what the 9th Circus has to say.
Article IV Convention of States: No more lifetime appointments and congressional override of Court rulings.
THIS.
Routine screening and entrance into the U.S. just got infinitely insurmountable. Its just the way this sovereign nation does business.
When you actually watch the institutions that are usually praised as what makes America great it is quite shameful. I listened to much of the appeal case yesterday and to hear everyone twists everything and not actually get to the heart of the issue it was clear that this process is not something that should even be in the court system. I watched some of the Sessions debates on the floor of the house and I can only shake my head at how much time is wasted getting nothing done. It’s a giant waste of money and honesty and integrity is almost zero in that institution. America is represented on, seemingly, every level, by idiots who thing far to much of themselves.
Did you see Kelley in the confirmation hearings? He gave some squishy answers.
ILLEGAL ALIENS
dont EVER use the word immigrant or immigration in connection with illegal aliens..
illegal aliens dont immigrate...of any sort...
Coshocton was always a Conservative bastion, as I suspect you are well aware!
Andrew Jackson once asked how many generals the CJ of SCOTUS had to enforce a ruling Jackson chose to ignore
Doesn’t surprise me. Trump has shown himself to be quite unique in his willingness to go against the grain. Everyone else is afraid of reactions etc.
