[snip] CARRBORO, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A mother is hoping police press charges against a daycare worker she says was caught on surveillance video breastfeeding her child without her permission.
Oxendine said moments after she left the room, video shows the daycare worker picking up her baby and breastfeeding him for several seconds. The woman stopped when another worker who was in the room at the time, stood up to leave.
Later Friday evening, Oxendine rushed her baby to UNC Hospital because she said he became ill and was throwing up.
Her son was born prematurely, is lactose intolerant and can't have any milk products.

I guess Wet Nurse is a dying profession.
weirdos. take “no” for an answer.
I disbelieve the facts in this story. My thought is that the mother is a freak. She probably does believe her baby is lactose intolerant. The baby may even be lactose intolerant, but she is looking for a lawsuit.
Look out, since the baby is a boy, they will label him a Sex Offender for the rest of his life.
My thoughts, too.
Who knows. They may not have a good understanding of their market.

Wet nurse would probably be just fine if the parent had approved it. This does not appear to be the case. Therefore this is either simple or sexual assault, depending on the prosecutor and local statues.

It’s bigger than just one mom trying to help another mom.
The teachers had noticed the infant was constipated.
One of the teachers offered to nurse the child. The mother said ‘No’ That’s not what I want”. When the mom left the room, the assistant teacher did it anyway. Wouldn’t you know it, of all times to nurse a baby. This baby is lactose intolerant, and doesn’t use milk products. This ‘favor’ made the child sick enough to see a doctor. So, this is an inadvertent form of insubordination and even arrogance, albeit well meaning.
I noticed there is no father mentioned. It’s possible this is a single mom, who may already be feeling somewhat inadequate with no dad, now she sees an unrelated woman taking charge of her baby. Doubling the resentment.
Sometimes, no means no.
not true.
Reputable day cares have monitors parents can watch what is going on. At least it’s that way in some daycares.
Today we have plenty of baby monitors/cameras that parents can watch babysitters, pet sitters, repairmen in their homes too.
That’s right. Why leave your precious child in the care of strangers?
The baby was premature and had medical issues...and she LEFT him among strangers?
Mothers can pass on diseases or drug use via their breast milk. I hope this person was healthy and the child does not pick up something.
Breastfed him for several seconds and he started throwing up? Hmmm...
I agree with your take on it.
“I guess Wet Nurse is a dying profession.”
My sister belonged to a group of nursing mothers, they would meet to nurse each others babes!
This is in a very nice suburb, the thinking was this has benefits for the children.
I have no idea what this woman’s situation is, but if she is a single mother, her choices would have been to either keep her job and put her son in day care, or stay home with her son but mooch off the taxpayers to do it. Which one of these scenarios would you prefer?
Good point. Sounds like the exposure was fortunately fairly brief.

She should be at home with taxpayers supporting her and her baby. Would that make you feel better?
