The violence at the UC Berkeley campus Wednesday night which cancelled the speech of alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos is such a debacle for the national opposition to Trump that it almost defies belief.
Consider the context. The Trump regime tells the media to “keep its mouth shut,” declares a “running war” against the press, and promotes “alternative facts.” Orders State Department personnel using a “dissent channel” created for the explicit purpose of allowing employees to voice dissenting views without fear of retribution that they should resign. Forbids the staff of various federal agencies from speaking in public either by press conference, social media, or anything else. Six journalists face felony charges for covering inauguration day protests.
At exactly this moment, because of what happened at Berkeley, the Trump regime gets to present itself as the guardian of free speech in America.
Nice.
This extraordinary feat was accomplished by a hundred or so anonymous people, clad head to toe in black, faces covered, whom no one can call to account.
Amazing.
Yiannopoulos is doing a 23-campus speaking tour. There are protests against him everywhere he appears, but there have only been a few places where there has been violence directed at “shutting down” the event. Here is what happens at the campuses where there is no violence:

It was worth reading. It is an ardent leftist who sees clearly enough that they understand the dynamics of how the violent protests help the Right side.
But they cannot help putting in garbage like this:

The shooter claimed self defense, which seems completely believable as you read the article. The whole article is about the violent nature of the anarchist involved.
It is very likely that the “victim” did not want to press charges, because an investigation would reveal that he was the aggressor.

An extreme situation is when there is a midnight knock on your door and you are taken away in a black van to a concentration camp. This article is just whining by a snowflake.
You can only fight fascism with an “anti-fascist response.” An “anti-fascist response” is whatever people who call themselves anti-fascist do. Those who label themselves anti-fascist routinely engage in political violence. Therefore the only proper way to fight fascism is through political violence.
This is what sank the Weimar Republic in Germany. One of the flaws of the Weimar Constitution was that it permitted political parties to have uniformed militias. The militias were unarmed in the sense that they were not permitted to carry firearms, but only knives and clubs. The weapons were supposedly for discipline inside the militia, but very quickly political militias began using the weapons on opposing militias. Germans wanted a man who would put an end to street warfare, and they got one in Hitler.
The tendency for political violence will only prompt a draconian response from the government. Then what? Terrorism?

The Huffie talks about the “black bloc” like it is a new group - it ain’t! Black is the new brown shirt. We all know who they answer to! Heck one of fhen was a UC Berkeley employee or professor who beat the crap out of student and bragged about it on social media!

They are finding out that Obama did them no good by tolerating and encouraging rioting. And the liberal mayors who won’t crack down on rioting just expose them to be the haters they claim to despise.
