I finally a couple of years ago got around to watching the HBO series “The Wire”. Season One first episode I was hooked and watched the entire first season in a kind of binge watch.
Season two just was not as good and I gave up on it. My take on some these kind of shows is that the first one or two seasons they are on fire and then for different reasons they fall off.
I have watched the first episode of “Taboo” and it is certainly different and I may finish it’s season.
I watched the second episode earlier this week. Carrie is slowly discovering that the “peaceful” muslim she’s been trying to protect isn’t so peaceful. I’m not ready to give up on it yet. I’m thinking (and hoping) that the “leftist” slant on the show does an about face around mid-to-late season.
An excellent option for distraught Democrats: just record Homeland 6 and watch it over and over and...for, say, 50,000 times. Eight years will be over in an instant.
The change is tone is particularly stupid since Carrie spent most of Season 5 chasing down Islamic jihadis and stopping them from releasing sarin gas inside a main train station in Berlin - all while NOT employed by the CIA.
The first 4 seasons were amazing.
For those of you who are familiar with the show, you may recall that in past seasons it was accused of being bigoted toward Muslims because it portrayed radical Islamic terrorists in a bad light.
Not my impression. Damian Lewis's character was portrayed in a positive light -- more positive than negative anyway.
Maybe Arabs or Arab-Americans had a problem with the show, but Muslim terrorists, not so much.
This is the first season I checked out. Not a good show. Trying Black Sails.
I have never watched this program (or for that matter any of hollyweirds crap for the last 25 years), why would any body deliberately watch hollyweird propaganda?
There is to much to life to waste your time on PC television fantasy.
You gotta admit; Corporal Hicks knew how it had to be done.
Don’t know, but that appeared to me at the time to be the gist of the story and I tuned out...
I haven’t watched anything produced by the alphabets in years. Total garbage with no socially redeeming value whatsoever.
Shows how much I care or know about it.
Thanks.
Most—not all—Hollywood “conservatives” would be left-leaning by our standards. They’d be zotted inside a week!
“I got DVDs from my library and binge watched.”
I do the same thing. When I last visited the tiny library here, I noticed they finally got season 5 in, and I am the first person to have checked it out. Only two more episodes to go. I agree that 1 and 2 were the best, and it’s been downhill from there. From everything I’ve been reading, it’s doubtful I’ll watch season 6.
Kind of want to warn you against Black Sails, but it requires spoiling a storyline.
Maybe Carrie is just overmedicating her crazy, like at the start of season 2
F$#!ing A!
This is on Showtime.
I give you credit for surviving the first episode. I think I got through the previews before dumping it from the DVR list. That and a few reviews from my fellow FReepers.
I'm just worried that the "24" remake starting Sunday could suffer the same fate.
