America is running low on bacon

WASHINGTON (NEWS10) – The country’s bacon reserves are at the lowest level in half a century.
The demand for bacon is outpacing the supply and pig farmers just can’t keep up with the world’s appetite for it.
Right now, the U.S. inventory is 7.8 million pounds, the lowest since 1957.
They’re not going to run out but expected to be paying more for bacon.

I blame Franklin Roosevelt. One of the first things the New Deal did was to kill millions of piglets (hoping to increase prices for pork products to benefit the farmers).
If those piglets had been allowed to grow up and increase and multiply, we wouldn't have a shortage now.

BTW, what’s the difference between pig bacon and turkey bacon? I find it very confusing.
Someone gave me a package of turkey bacon. It’s been in my freezer for months. It just doesn’t look right.
If/when you decide to eat it, try not to expect it to taste like pork bacon. It's not. But if you instead call it "smoked salted turkey strips" it will taste much better.
(Psychology does that.)
