That leaves McConnell and Senate majority whip John Cornyn with some heavy lifting to do. They either need to convince Collins and/or Murkowski to get back on board with DeVos, or make sure no one else disembarks before Pence can cast the 101st vote and keep Sessions in the Senate long enough to pull off this high-wire act. Stay tuned.

The teacher unions and the Big Education establishment is going full bore against DeVos. I have some friends who are teachers (elementary, high school, and college level) and school administrators and they are all going apeshit over her. Which is why I like her.
Need to bring Manchin on board to get her over the top. Any other Dim would be icing. If Manchin doesn’t agree, tell him he will be the No. 1 target in 2018. If he does come on board, he’ll only be target No. 14 or 15.
I really dont mind if she doesn’t make it. All his other picks are great...this one seems marginal at best.
Also a big difference in impact, trading scalia for another conservative on the court doesn’t shift the power at all..
Devos allowing school choice is a far far bigger threat to the left.
They have made it clear she is the main one they will be shooting to take out from day one....
If the Dems are going to go completely batcrap it will be during the Devos vote...
These two were predicted to eff up, and there are no more deserters. Pence will seal the deal, and the drama is all unnecessary.
We can pull the “race card” also. The most blatantly racist and tyrannical decision a lawmaker can vote in regards to education is the disenfranchisement of school choice which predominately effects the inner city child. I suppose they should not get uppity because they get welfare and abortion choices.
Trump needs to find folks in their home states who will work against them in regard to their reelection AND find out what bills they are trying to get passed for their states and then have someone contact them about whether they want those bills passed or shot down.
You are right . There are these non Secretary “cabinet attendees” you mentioned . I forgot about Chow. Those others are nothing. I don’t consider the SBA loan person or the UN voter as Cabinet.
Make no mistake.
This is about Teacher Union money.
Pure and simple.
The GOP weak links are going wobbly.
Call these crazy *itches:

Those 2 sows need to be retired!!!
To see who he has lined up to replace Jeff Sessions

Is there anything on this earth more worthless than a Republican Senator?
The voters in Alaska and Maine?

IMO, blame it on the party that allows these types of people to run in their stead....Party over principles. Winning over everything else.
Voters, OTOH, have little choice for such blame.
We had Murkowski out at one point, and then the GOPe acquiesced to her bullsh** write-in campaign.
DeVos has never been an educator. She has supported education and charter schools, but has never taught. Even conservative teachers do not back her.
Don’t worry, McCain and Lindsey Graham will through him a life preserver with an anchor tied around it. .
Don’t care. Don’t need an educator for that slot - just an administrator, and judging the American professional “educators” by their “products”, the less input they have the better.
Having any Republican NOT back ANY of Trump’s appointees is simply unforgivable. We are at war with the Dems at this point. You are either with us, or against us.
Senator Collins votes against Choice in Education, consigning millions of poor children to sub-par educations and futures.
This is “breaking?” as in something significant just happened? I think not. Might as well have had BREAKING: Collins and Murkowski Are Women.
