Amazon Is Working With Lawmakers to Counter Trump’s Immigration Order
The Wall Street Journal ^ | January 30, 2017 | Laura Stevens

Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Jeff Bezos said the e-commerce giant is working with lawmakers and state officials to explore legal options to counter President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration.

In an email to staff Monday, Mr. Bezos said the company has reached out to members of Congress to explore legislative options. The company’s public policy team in Washington, D.C., also has reached out to senior administration officials to make clear its opposition, Mr. Bezos wrote.

In one of the strongest signs of corporate disapproval of the order, Mr. Bezos said Amazon has prepared a declaration of support for a suit expected to be filed against the order by the Washington state Attorney General. “We are working on other legal options, as well,” he added.

“To our employees in the U.S. and around the world who may be directly affected by this order, I want you to know that the full extent of Amazon’s resources are behind you,” Mr. Bezos added.

Leaders from across the technology industry have criticized Mr. Trump’s temporary immigration ban on foreign nationals from seven Muslim-majority countries, expressing concern about the order’s effect on their employees, with some executives saying the ban violated their personal and company principles.

Amazon, Ford, Google, Uber, Lyft, Starbucks - just today, these corporations decided they prefer cheap political pandering to following the law.

Amazon is dead to me.

Amazon took a serious tick downward when they built a distribution center in Tennessee. Then started charging sales tax. I don't use them much any more, and I won't use them at all now.

Got a bit of a problem. PC’s unreliable (old & wearing out) so I surf the web...and FR...on what I got for Christmas - a brand-new Kindle Fire.

If I don’t use it, I’m going to have to drop off of FR, and I am loathe to do that. It’d take a LONG time to save up for something else.

Me too. They don’t want my conservative money, apparently. Brick and mortar will employ more locals, time to get it back home. I was done with Facebook, Firefox, Target, LinkedIn, others. Now add Amazon.

Use them as a storefront to find what you want. Then Google the seller and buy direct. Starve these traitors.

That is what I am planning to do. -Tom

I’m sure there are plenty of regulations that are beneficial to Mr Bezos that might be suddenly reversed with a phone and a pen... it would be a real shame if that were to happen. Real shame, I tell ya!

It’s clear the tech oligarchs think they own the US government, and Washington State is already on the payroll.

Have your credit card company put it in dispute. They are great at doing that with unethical businesses

These days when I want to buy something I go to Amazon first to check out the reviews, then buy it off of eBay. Eff them!

Also, as far as I can see, the ONLY thing that Amazon has a “corner” on is Kindle books, and here’s what I think about that:

1. The ease of publishing books for Kindle has led to a flood of absolute crap.
2. Legitimate books will usually have other sources - for instance, from the publisher’s website, etc.

Bezos is a globalist who does not deserve the support of the nation that has made him wealthy.

Take your business elsewhere, as I am doing.

You have to go into account management, manage payment options and delete all of your credit cards.

We do that every time we place an order.

As soon as the order is placed, the payment method gets deleted.

We started doing this when their site was hacked a few years ago.
