Rosie ODonnell, Amy Schumer, Miley Cyrus and George Clooney are part of a group of celebrities calling for a total Hollywood strike until Trump resigns.
A group of liberal Hollywood celebrities are threatening a massive, all-round Hollywood strike unless Donald Trump resigns. Describing Hollywood as the base of the entire modern American culture, the group also claims to be speaking on behalf of all of humanity.
Its about time people understood that were the ones with the power and that the president is there to serve us, not the other way around, a spokesperson for the group told The New York Times.
Were calling for a general strike that would include every single person involved in making motion pictures in Hollywood, starting with the actors and celebrities themselves and encompassing companies in charge of making props, movie memorabilia and even souvenir shops.
Spinzon reports: Rosie ODonnell, Debra Messing, Ed Asner and Michael Shannon are among the dozens of artists, entertainers, and activists who have attached their names to an effort calling for a month-long protest to stop President-elect Donald Trump.
No! In the Name of Humanity We Refuse to Accept a Fascist America! reads a full-page ad placed in the New York Times on Wednesday by the group Refuse Racism. Donald Trump, the President-elect, is assembling a regime of grave danger, the ad says.
Millions of people in the US and around the world are filled with deep anxiety, fear and disgust. Our anguish is right and just. Our anger must now become massive resistance before Donald Trump is inaugurated and has the full reins of power in his hands.
Other Hollywood celebrities who have also joined the campaign, however, are calling for an all-out strike that would span the entire movie industry in the hopes that such a move would urge the President-elect to resign from his position as the newly elected President of the United States.

“Many of these ‘useful idiots’ believe that they are the “EXPERTS” on any variety of subjects,
but in reality, they are nothing more than “Entertainers”, who serve at our pleasure for as long as we are willing to pay to see them.”
Organ grinders monkeys comes to mind! They are all just “fooles!”
It certainly would give me time to catch up watching all those older movies I’ve never seen.
Not holding my breath...none of em left the country
They will find out that no one will go see their movies...then what?
Its about time people understood that were the ones with the power and that the president is there to serve us”
Let me get this straight, it’s time PEOPLE understood that HOLLYWOOD are the ones with the power?!?!? And the President exists to serve THEM?!? Got it. Riiiiiiight!
Where do I sign on for this boycott? I would also like a role enforcing the boycott and punishing scabs.
These self indulgent liberal a**holes have way to high opinion of themselves ... bring it on!
Ed Asner is still alive?!
#BeStillMyHopefulHeart
If they want to make a really big statement they should kill themselves.
Buy more ammo.
They’re just trying to get out ahead of the massive boycott of their industry that’s already forcing them to put their mansions on the market.
That their “spokesman” is calling for the little people—grips, electricians, prop people, etc-—to forfeit employment and stop supporting their own families, out of a desire to back Clooney and Co., not to mention the illegals flooding in, who are already taking their jobs-—is just another example of Hollywood’s arrogant detachment from reality.
Fact is, most California precincts went for Trump.
I say they can disband Hollywood all together and save us all a lot of money - I've been a voracious reader for over 50 of my 64 years and there's still lots of great works out there I haven't set eyes on.
It would make the family structure more cohesive if they stopped working....
That'll show 'em, eh?
I would love to see alternatives to Hollywood sprout up around the country... a rebirth of the TV and film industries to include talented folks who aren't part of the "club".
These people could survive for YEARS on what they have made, and the are calling for a one MONTH boycott?
Am I supposed to take this seriously?
Those of us that are boycotting every movie, products, etc. should in connect with more people to do the same...
Good.
We might get some quality local programming.
That ad appeared in the Times last month.
So far as I can see, it doesn't have anything to do with Clooney or Schumer.
Ed Asner signed it, though.
Didn’t they all move to Canada yet?
Gee, the last time a major strike happened (can’t remember whether it was the Writers’ Guild or the Directors’ Guild), television viewing plummeted horrendously and NEVER recovered.
I knew that was going to happen. Now this will completely destroy the TV and movie industries.
A propaganda break? Hallelujah!
Except for the relatively few really rich actors, the rest will be doing dogfood commercials within six months!
