I'll always care about children, even those who are allowed to think that they're adults. It seems that Malia would have benefitted from a more hand-on kind of parenting in her later teens. It's not a racial thing....look at Miley Cyrus who had no grasp of all the advantages that weren't earned.

Malia is just out of HS. She's been in this environment since she was 10. She does not seem to have the judgement to be out there and be able to make responsible decisions. I can't imagine how she'll ever settle down to college after this "gap year" with too much freedom and not enough service to those less fortunate. It says a lot about the parents, doesn't it? I hope Sasha matures better....she always seemed to be the happier of the two.

Yes, that is how I saw it too. She is away physically from her family, but she still lives inside their bubble of liberalism. I never expected anything else.
