Oh, and 1984. He was brilliant in that.
Loved him in Elephant man. A portrait of dignity.
One of my favorite actors of all time . Very sad news ...
In I, Claudius the definitive Caligula!
Lots and lots of memorable/great roles and flicks.
One of The Best.
R. I. P.
Christie did it!
Condolences to family and friends of John Hurt. R.I.P., sir.
For sure ! First movie I ever saw him in was Mr Forbush And The Penguins ( 1971 ) with Hayley Mills , and he was great even then .
Stacking em up like cord wood
RIP
John Hurt was only 77?
He looked 77 when he was in 1984, filmed in 1984.
RIP.
CALIGULA IS DEAD! Best Masterpiece Theater presentation I have ever seen! I CLAVDIVS.
Very sad. I believe he is the only cast member other than the guy who played the xenomorph from Alien who has died. Pretty unusual for a film nearly 40 years old.
I just watched 1984 on Amazon Prime about a month ago. Saw it in the theater in I guess, 1984. Brilliant. Great actor. RIP.
I loved ‘I, Claudius’. I try not to miss it whenever they re-show it. Patrick Stewart was in it too, I believe.
John Hurt as “the fool” in King Lear

Laurence Olivier as Lear
He lied to get Thomas Moore executed in A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS...”Or words to that effect.”
Elephant Man is excellent and he should have won the Academy Award. RIP.
He was good in Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull ....
He will be missed.
I'll never forget how oily/dangerous he made Caligula. His portrayal of Caligular's self-declaration of god-hood was absolutely chilling. RIP Mr. Hurt.
