Oh, and 1984. He was brilliant in that.

Loved him in Elephant man. A portrait of dignity.

John Hurt was only 77?
He looked 77 when he was in 1984, filmed in 1984.
RIP.

CALIGULA IS DEAD! Best Masterpiece Theater presentation I have ever seen! I CLAVDIVS.

Very sad. I believe he is the only cast member other than the guy who played the xenomorph from Alien who has died. Pretty unusual for a film nearly 40 years old.

He lied to get Thomas Moore executed in A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS...”Or words to that effect.”

Elephant Man is excellent and he should have won the Academy Award. RIP.

He was good in Indiana Jones - Crystal Skull ....
He will be missed.

He did a kinda weird film called “frankenstein unbound” which I actually liked. In addition to the many great roles mentioned, he made the 50th anniversary of “Doctor Who” very special with his portayal of the “War Doctor”.

He made a hilarious Caligula in “I, Claudius” and was always reliably good in any role he was in. RIP.
To: Monty22002
A few years ago he portrayed the War Doctor - an incarnation of The Doctor that had never been revealed before, the one who fought in the Time War - for the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who.
