The US doesn’t have ocelots or jaguars
Actually, jaguars (the actual cats, not cars or airplanes) have recently been seen and photographed in Texas and New Mexico. Personally I think the US government should be breeding jaguars and perhaps using them for additional border patrol forces in addition to preserving the species.

But we used to.
Soon after WW2, the government put a bounty on Jaguars in the USA in an effort to exterminate them. It was around 1949 that they managed to kill off the last one.

They occasionally come up into Arizona/NM along the mountain ranges, no they are not native here, they are a tropical animal.
