Soon after WW2, the government put a bounty on Jaguars in the USA in an effort to exterminate them. It was around 1949 that they managed to kill off the last one.
If we still had them in the original quantities and locations, we would have to worry a lot less about illegals as they would have been eaten by jaguars.
