"during its history has often felt bullied and threatened by its wealthier, more powerful neighbor"
If sneak into a neighbor's house and pretend you have a right to be there, you deserve to be bullied.

That’s the point: Buy American. That slogan has been around for quite a while. We all know it will cost more but that’s the way it is.

True, but this is all just negotiating Kabuki.
Heck, with our breathless media the wall may be paid for from extra popcorn sales.

And just maybe some of those American companies that moved their plants to Mexico will eventually come back. And some of those 96 million Americans not counted as unemployed but unemployed nonetheless will get jobs.

I already pay more for everything, willingly. I will not buy anything manufactured or grown in Mexico or China.

Still, the “Remittance” scam has to be tackled. Some of it is legal but it should all be interrupted while the transactions are reviewed. Illegal transfers expose the looter as well as the employer or detect that the person is collecting social service money and sending it out. A halt while reviewing will send shockwaves.

Speaking of strawberries, we were in Scottsdale, Arizona, over the Christmas holidays. First order of business was a trip to Fry’s for groceries. Bought the best strawberries we’ve had in a long time and they were labeled as being from California. Brought a whole bunch of them back to Texas with us. Far superior to the ones we get here which are from Mexico.

So this is the US paying for the wall, but at the same time, giving HUGE incentives for companies to re-patriot their factories back to the United States.
But then again, this is, of course, is yet another step in the negotiation. We’ll see how it evolves.

Mexicans view a wall across the 2,000-mile border as a symbolic affront... That's not true!...... It's a physical affront..................

This would be the easier way to pay for the wall instead of an import tax. This would also lead to illegals heading home when they realize the gravy train ride is over.

You’re thinking too small. President Trump just launched an all out trade war with Mexico.
