On Wednesday, Trump signed two executive orders dealing with enforcing current immigration laws and the construction of a border wall. Trump specifically called out Mexican cartels in the executive order. In response to the anti-cartel measures, Peña Nieto took to social media, as Breitbart Texas reported.
In addition to denouncing the measure, Peña Nieto announced that he would be ordering the 50 Mexican Consulates in the U.S. to step up their efforts to protect migrants. The Mexican president made no mention of the fact that the migrants are one of the largest funding mechanisms for the cartels who reportedly helped him gain his office.
Mexican President Peña Nieto has been the subject of immaculate investigative reporting in his own country, though his reported ties to Mexican cartels received little attention from the U.S. during the presidency of Barack Obama.
As Breitbart Texas previously reported:
An in-depth investigation has revealed that through the use of shell companies, members of the Juarez Cartel financed the political campaign of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. ... The bombshell revelation was made ... by the independent news outlet Aristegui Noticias who claim that top officials of the Juarez Cartel financed thousands of cash cards that were handed out by Mexicos Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI) during the 2012 political campaign that resulted in the victory of Enrique Pena Nieto. According to the Mexican journalists, the cash cards were provided by a company called Monex. They were reported to be financed through a series of shell corporations by key players with the Juarez Cartel. ...
They identified Rodolfo David El Consul Avila Cordero as a key figure in the financial scandal that implicates the leading figures in Mexicos ruling party, the Revolutionary Institutional Party (PRI).

The light is being shone on the cockroaches. I wonder if Trump knew this.
Consulates are allowed and located at the sufferance of the host country. If Trump wants to push even harder, he could order some of the consulates closed.
I’m willing to bet that some “helpful” US bureaucrat took Trump aside at some point and said, “Look, the president of Mexico is in deep with the cartels. He really has no choice in these things. You have to cut him some slack. You have to back off on some of the stuff you’re saying.”
And I bet Trump said: “Now I’m definitely pushing this issue. Mexico has to get cleaned up. It will be good for them and good for us.”
Mexico does not respect the US or our laws.
The government has been encouraging Mexicans to illegally enter our country, get benefits fraudulently, work illegally and send the proceeds home.
Remittances from the US is Mexicos largest source of income.
They are a cleptocracy.
That’s what I’m thinking, order some of the Mexican consultates closed and let them see where this is leading if they don’t adopt a more cooperative stance FAST.
In fact, without Mexican consulates all over this country we can start to take back the USA.
Mexico has got to get its act together. For many years, anti-Americanism has been a big thing in Mexican domestic politics. Any politician who wants to get elected attacks the United States and blames us for all of Mexico’s problems. This is much easier to do than taking the blame themselves, especially for their radical left-wing unions that support the drug cartels, and the situation of lawlessness that has prevailed for a long time in Mexico.
The Mexican people are actually very friendly and like us, but I think the big problem is that the political class in Mexico has really destroyed the country.
Trump knows this.
Obama knew this.
Bush knew this.
Peña Nieto pronounced ‘Pinata’ ...
Mexico makes major cash off of us. That needs to stop.
50 Mexican Consulates, close them send them back, a good start.
Remittances now exceed Mexico’ oil revenue at US$24 Billion.
Adios Pena. The days of business as usual are over.
The Mexicans can talk, or they can turn away and pout. Either way, President Trump will proceed with what he announced he would do.
Truly a force of Nature.
We just unfortunately had one open in milwaukee.
Right after the news of him cancelling, the peso plummeted. It’s this sort of reaction that will eventually either destroy his country, or get him to play ball.
“According to the Mexican journalists, the cash cards were provided by a company called Monex.”
Is this the same company that is hawking gold on TV? We need to know who they are and take measures against them if they are one in the same.
“Mexico makes major cash off of us. That needs to stop.”
in point of fact, we are their #1 financier with remittances, trade and foreign aid. All of it needs to be stopped immediately.
“Adios Pena.”
No! Adios, pinche idiota!
The press will focus on the damage to the relationship with Mexico. Trump, the great negotiator, knows Mexico has to come to terms with us and he is playing his power hand out to send a message to Mexico and the world, particularly China. Once he has humiliated Mexico, without being made to back down by the US establishment, he will enter negotiations with China from a position of strength.
The US press doesn’t understand negotiating from a position of strength. They are getting a lesson.
Older Americans who studied US history fully understand what is going on and applaud Trump.
