The State Department’s entire Senior Management Team just Resigned
Wash Post ^ | 1-26-2017 | Josh Rogan

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s job running the State Department just got considerably more difficult. The entire senior level of management officials resigned Wednesday, part of an ongoing mass exodus of senior foreign service officers who don’t want to stick around for the Trump era.

Tillerson was actually inside the State Department’s headquarters in Foggy Bottom on Wednesday, taking meetings and getting the lay of the land. I reported Wednesday morning that the Trump team was narrowing its search for his No. 2, and that it was looking to replace the State Department’s long-serving undersecretary for management, Patrick Kennedy.

Kennedy, who has been in that job for nine years, was actively involved in the transition and was angling to keep that job under Tillerson, three State Department officials told me.

Then suddenly on Wednesday afternoon, Kennedy and three of his top officials resigned unexpectedly, four State Department officials confirmed. Assistant Secretary of State for Administration Joyce Anne Barr, Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Michele Bond and Ambassador Gentry O. Smith, director of the Office of Foreign Missions, followed him out the door. All are career foreign service officers who have served under both Republican and Democratic administrations.

Some fair percentage of those should be heading to a jail cell.

What took them so long? This should save some $ given they should get nada in terms of benefits. And since they were all loyal to Herself they would have had to go anyway.

The article never gave a number on the resignations. If you count only the names there are about five and “severa’ of the second tier is meaningless. I was expecting at least hundreds due to the alarming headline, but The lack of numbers makes me think the ‘crisis’ may be somewhat overblown. My thinking is that very few bureacrats want to quit sucking on the teat of the government when they get those fat salaries and travel pay and perks.

But even if the numbers were in the hundreds that simply means that the number of fervidly entrenched enemies of the new Administration are gone and the bureaucratic damage they could do to the Administration policies is mitigated, not ended

the state department has needed a good house cleaning for several decades. The pro-Arab/anti-Israel & the pro-USSR/Communist country foreign officers need to go and be replace with those who believe in freedom and democracy and are pro-The United States of America

If this “senior management team” worked for Hillary an Kerry then the USA would be safer if all of them retired.

I know. Its been a very long time since most of us were impressed (or even neutral) by what is coming out of the State Dept.
