Newly minted Secretary of Defense James Mattis celebrated his first full day at the Pentagon by overseeing 31 strikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
Mattis entered the Pentagon Saturday with a smile for his first full day of work, and for good reason, considering the significant bombardment ISIS forces received.
A variety of fighters, bombers and remotely piloted aircraft engaged in the bombing run, which saw 25 strikes in Syria and six in Iraq.
In Syria, two strikes destroyed ISIS units and artillery near the town of Bab. ISIS forces in Raqqa, the terrorist group’s de facto capital, took a heavy beating, as 22 strikes destroyed 12 tactical units, nine fighting positions, two underground improvised explosive bomb factories and an ISIS headquarters. The final strike targeted two ISIS oil wells in Deir ez Zour.

For CNN, there was NO OTHER NEWS happening on the entire planet, not this, not the mall shooting in San Antonio, and not the fifteen Americans killed by Tornados todays, that was more than setting the MediaMatters-approved, Daily Kos-distributed Anti-Trump talking points for the week.
My Spidey Sense is telling me that these were all targets the Pentagon wanted to hit, but they couldn't get the Obamunist Crypto-muzzies to approve the strikes.

I too had despaired of ever being proud of this country again, but on the other hand from the beginning I’ve had a sense that it would be easy to kick start this economy, it only lacked people with the will to do it.

Let me ask if you have read of any of this weekend's strikes or their results in the MSM? If not then how would you know of past strikes?
How can you make any judgment of military efficacy from a lack of reporting? Ignorance is not a reliable source for an opinion.
I assure you I have good sources for making a sound determination on this. Your claim is inaccurate and a disservice to the efforts and accomplishments of our armed forces.
30K ISIS KIA in 4 years of aerial strikes and ground operations is nothing to mock. Tell me one region where ISIS is not on the defensive and losing ground.
They exist is all the proof I need.

Yes, and hopefully Mattis will loosen the ROE. I watched his confirmation hearing and he also took notes when suicide was discussed. He does care.
YEt we have to tread carefully. Our credibility is so shot we would do well to speak softly until new arrangements are in place.

The civilian neighbors KNOW that the bomb factories are amongst them, but if they feel safe from aerial bombardment, then they’ll passively go along with it. Seems that if they no longer felt safe that they’d get word out to Syrian ground troops to take care of these places without bombardment and/or casually get the hell out of the neighborhood.
