America is about to experience a profound sense of whiplash as power is transferred from a president whose eloquence brought him to the public stage to one whose modes of communication are largely limited to political pep rallies (including the occasional pep rally disguised as a press conference) and mean tweets.
...Barack Obama is one of a handful of presidents considered not just a good speaker but a great one (Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, John F Kennedy, Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton come to mind). He shares with Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan the distinction of coming to prominence on the basis of a speech anti-war speech (Obamas in 2002, Lincolns anti-slavery addresses, and Reagans A Time for Choosing in support of Republican candidate Barry Goldwater in 1964).
..Obamas uncanny talent for pulling hope out of even the dark firmament of Americas history of slavery, racism and segregation placed him in the ranks not just of presidents, but of abolitionists and civil rights leaders, who saw past Americas uneven execution of its founding creed to its potential to perfect it. Indeed, as my co-editor on We Are the Change We Seek, EJ Dionne asserts, the notion of perfecting our union is a chord that runs throughout Obamas body of speeches. For him, the word perfect is an active verb, not an adjective.
...Years before, he spoke to the Muslim world in Cairo, and dreamed a world in which Christianity, Judaism and Islam greet each other with mutual respect.

Wow... talk about delusional
.
That was one of the hilarious things about this article. The other is that the article does nothing but "lick boot, lick boot, Obama so great and wonderful. He brought peace to the world and between races in America. " and doesn't even approach it's title -- what is Obama's legacy? It seems that O's legacy is just the ability to read from a teleprompter
A pipe dream that burst. But nothing to see here. Except, there was a LOT to see here. Advantage. Conservatives.
Wait til we learn the truth about Obama—it will be—I believe—Awful, corrupt, vindictive and mean. Just think of when his records are unsealed—a whole cottage industry will come into existence because of Obama’s White House. The Democrats will try to hide it but the Truth will come out—it always does.
I’m going with “Yes”, Alex.
Donald seems to be rather visibly boasting... but about God. This guy just acts like someone that God spoke to, but who also said not to even bother checking with the churches because most of them wouldn’t believe.
To see the real God humbling men’s religion is actually a sight that does my heart good... because ever since the Pharisees, at least, there have been men busy grieving the Holy Spirit. Over Donald Trump, the Holy Spirit seems to be going “YEEEEEHAW!!”
That pendulum done swung REAL good, Big Ears. Thanks for the push!!
“Obamas uncanny talent for pulling hope....” Nonsense. His “hope” ended in failure in every “hope” aspect. Nonsense.
Even with the barf alert I was unprepared. Yuck!
Obama sucks and so does this nit-witted author.
Joyless-Ann Reid LOL
Obama is a terrible speaker.
He did one good speech that got him noticed at a DNC convention way back when but other than that nothing.
If he is speaking off the cuff he is nearly incomprehensible.
If I read any more, I’ll have to go get my hip boots.
I never understood all the fawning over his supposed eloquence. He always sounds to me
like someone reading a speech. He reads well, but it still sounds like he is reading. A real orator may be reading, but he makes it sound extemporaneous.
Pulling dope? Pulling rope? Pulling nope? Whatever, it isn’t hope.
Old Jug Ears can’t come close to Slick at improv. Shoulda been a TV newsreader instead.
Bunch of fooled fools.
Oh honey...Trump IS Obama’s legacy.
Joy-Ann... Joy-Ann... are you the wife of Captain Obvious...
Obama loves to hear himself talk. But his speeches inspire no one who does not have a weak mind.
