If Mike Barnicle is right, our country is in trouble . . . On todays Morning Joe, Barnicle declared that Medicare and Medicaid are two of the pillars of our culture. Barnicle described Americans as having fealty to the programs.
Have we really gone from a culture of self-reliance and rugged individualism to a culture in which Americans pledge fealty to big-government programs? Lets hope not!

He has an interesting definition of “culture”.
We’re in trouble if Barnicle is right and Americans view big-government programs as “pillars of our culture” and pledge “fealty” to them.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Barnicle is not aging well.
Actually, he’s so ancient that he actually looks good for his age ;-)
Seems to me his judgement is not to be taken seriously.
Fealty?
The Progressives have progressed all the way back to the Middle Ages.
People don’t scrape barnacles off their bottoms anymore?
MJ represents the left political insider thinking ... which is why it has so few viewers.
He’s a liberal douchebag. Always was. If he never worked for the liberal god JFK he wouldn’t be an issue!
“Illegals are our best citizens!!”
Bullshit. They're millstones, dragging us to our death. "Entitlements" are an unsustainable load destroying our economy. The mentality of entitlement undermines the foundation of our culture of industriousness.
MSNBC is fake news
People over 65 have nowhere else to get their healthcare.
That’s not exactly “fealty”.
Two pillars that are destroying this country financially.
If Trump does get a handle on the costs, now over 1/3rd of the Federal Budget and growing 9% a year compounded annually, we will be destroyed in a few years.
So Baby Boomers get ready for drastic benefit cuts, they are coming, but it is too little, too late to save us.
The Default and Collapse may well be coming.
He never worked for JFK. He was more in tune with Teddy the Swimmer.
I’m a 64 year old physician. I would like Medicare to remain solvent for oh so many reasons. I prescribe some medications that have gone generic and still cost $1000/month. I don’t think if someone can’t afford this we should take away their “rugged individualist” card. How many of us can afford that on a retirement income?
The pillars of our dissipated culture, yes.
I have been in healthcare for decades.. it isn’t the over 65 crowd abusing the freebies. It’s hordes of people who have scammed it and are happily stealing from the over 65.
I did not say that people over 65 were scamming the system.
It is just a simple fact that Medicare is the only insurance available to them.
“Seems to me his judgement is not to be taken seriously.”
I would put this at the beginning of every article and any interview. Barnicle does.
“Next up Mike Barnicle on Medicare and Medicaid. Barnicle said, “Can we stipulate, for the purposes of this conversation, that Donald Trump will never be President of the United States?””
