I lived in California when she was first elected. She floated a rumor that the Republican she was running against, Bruce Nathanson IIRC, was seen coming out of a strip club. No proof, but it tanked him. THAT was her hard work. And this was when Republicans occasionally got elected to a state office in California.
It was Bruce Herschensohn, a very great man. He was even with Boxer. She barely pulled it out. The rest of the California GOP went down in flames. 1992. Horrible year.
