I don’t think it’s fake news or taken out of context. Or even a “betrayal”.
Trump make it quite clear, at least in the last weeks of the campaign, that his immigration policy was only aimed at deporting the low-life criminal element, as a sub-population of the WHOLE illegal immigrant population. In other words he was never referring to ALL illegal immigrants, just the “murderers, drug dealers, gang members” AMONG ALL illegals when he talked about deportation.
And while he made that quite clear during the last weeks and months, I’d even argue he was clear about that from the beginning, from his VERY FIRST SPEECH when he descended that escalator and announced his candidacy. That very first one he was targeting “drug dealers, murderers and gang members” as a PART of the WHOLE group of illegal immigrants.
I heard him and understood that right away. I understood right away he never had any intention of deporting all illegals, “just the criminals” (as if an illegal immigrant isn’t already a criminal by definition). I understood all that and tried to say so here on FR. But we all know how well criticism of The Donald was received here!
No matter. I’m still happy he defeated the Witch and if he does indeed deport all the “criminal illegal aliens” (but I repeat myself right?) I’ll be happy and consider that a campaign promise kept. If anyone disagrees, if anyone considers this a campaign promise broken, well I guess they weren’t paying attention during the primary.
You make excellent points. My concern is that he has to get the invasion ended. I hope it’s a very early priority, starting by enforcing laws day 1.
Yes, but in the middle, when he was winning over the base that got him elected, he said even of the “Dreamers” that if they are here illegally they have to go.
If they only kick out 2 million, that means they will leave approximately 28 million to take over a voting majority (to the liberal side) soon enough.
This is the issue above all other conservative issues—and Trump should be held to his promises.
