Vice President-elect Mike Pence on Wednesday blasted President Obama's decision to commute former U.S. Army soldier Chelsea Mannings 35-year prison sentence.
To commute Private Manning's sentence was a mistake," Pence said in a pre-recorded interview with Fox News that will be broadcast Wednesday evening.
The vice president-elect echoed the words of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), who on Tuesday said Obama treated "a traitor like a martyr.
"Private Manning is a traitor and should not have been turned into a martyr, as Senator Cotton said. Private Manning's actions compromised our national security, endangered American personnel downrange, compromised individuals in Afghanistan who were cooperating with our forces by leaking 750,000 documents to WikiLeaks," Pence noted.
Manning was sentenced in 2013 to 35 years in prison for leaking classified information about U.S. national security that was later published by WikiLeaks.
Manning's sentence was the longest penalty imposed for leaking classified documents.
Other GOP officials, including incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer, also criticized Obama's commutation of Mannings prison sentence.
"After the outrage weve seen about the other leaks that have come up, to see someone who has given away the countrys secrets and then convicted of it ... its disappointing and it sends a very troubling message when it comes to the handling of classified information, Spicer said on Wednesday.

Don’t worry VP Pence, that traitorous thing has a 40% chance of suicide and a 75% chance of attempting suicide.
I don’t know. 7 years of free loading is enough and I don’t want to be on the hook for any more procedures.
“Chelsea” should also be in quotes.
If Snowden wore a dress, maybe Obama would pardon him.
That’s what I’m thinking.........

Love it.
I don’t hear the Republicans complaining about this besides Paul Ryan. McConnell didn’t write anything on twitter about it.
“If Snowden wore a dress, maybe Obama would pardon him.”
As for wearing a dress, Manning admitted his guilt while Snowden ran away to Russia like a little girl with her dress in the air.
Begs the question, was Manning given the commuted sentence due to claiming to be transsexual??? In the LGBT world, the T people are special.
And can we speculate, that Manning’s real excuse for his crimes , were due to him being trans and having to be in the closet about all of that???¿??

What are the odds that it happens with two shots to the back of the head, Clinton Inc. syle?
“:^)
In a sane world this US Traitor who committed TREASON would have faced a firing squad. This should go down in the history books as one of Zero’s greatest achievements. PERIOD.
Something tells me that Uncle Sam will be footing the bill for that sex change operation, one way or the other. Probably some loophole about any medical procedure that's begun while someone is behind bars has to be completed and and paid for by the taxpayer, even if the final stages of treatment occur post-release from prison.
A Gold Star parent called into Mark Levin last nite.
Crying.
Words get in the way!
To commute Private Manning’s sentence was a mistake,” Pence said...”
After the Inauguration, Pence will say, “That transfreak will be executed at dawn for his treasonous betrayal of our beloved Country!
I can dream, can’t I?
I predict that in a year or so ‘her’ new last name will be ‘Bergdahl’.
If I understand it correctly, the commutation of his/her sentence did not erase the dishonorable discharge.
Yeah, what about McCain? Seems like he might have something to say about it. Or does he just pick on Trump?
