why was it necessary to give the President the pardon power in the Constitution?
Old prerogative of the king, who represented executive power in England. Our laws are pretty much based on English laws. Governors have pretty much the same power, but some states have curtailed their governors’ power of pardon.
I do not see the need for pardons despite this essay.

Interesting. And the guy that said “if it weren’t for only being able to do two terms, I would have been re-elected” frees the guy that bombed the place.
