DC Police will not be able to run on their body cameras at inauguration day protests. Washington DC All DC Police Officers have recently been outfitted with body cameras, but they will be in serious trouble if they have them on during the Inauguration Day protests.
NBC News 4s Mark Segraves reported that its against the law for body cameras to be on while police are at protests unless the officer is required to take action. This means that officers can turn the cameras on when they want to arrest somebody, but they will be unable to capture what led up to the arrest.

Agree.
The cameras are to prevent police brutality.
I wouldn’t doubt it.
Can you imagine the detail if something like that took place today.
There wouldd be thousands of Zapruder type videos on YouTube and all from different angles.
The quality of the video would make Zapruder’s look very very amateurish.
Like, no air in your tires unless you need to drive?
Thank you. I appreciate where you were coming from too. I understand.
I call BS on this
I am a huge proponent of Free Speech rights. I get flamed a lot on FR because I so vigorously defend Free Speech rights. In this case, I buy the position of the police. There is no expectation of privacy when engaging in a political protest on a public street.
Who made up that law?
So....no cameras.....Beat Away!
I would not be surprised at all if there are a few drones circling above.
Maybe it’s disinformation.
Calling Mr. O’Keefe, if you don’t already have an assignment for the 20th, here’s one that NEEDS doing.
it is true. see post 49
If it was me, I’d turn on my camera once I observe the violation and then wait until they committed another violation before I decided to act. That way I’d have at least some law breaking act on camera.
Well then the cops should be able to take some more liberties in beating the crap out of these snowflakes. There are pluses and minuses to these orders.
I was/am in favor of body cams on police. But the point is to capture what happen.. ALL THAT happen.. this is a great injustice being done to the police..
There being allow to video to defend there action but only video to criticize their actions ..
Because if you are only turning on the camera during to arrest.. you will never get the reason for the arrest and reason for level of force needed
This is crap... when there is a dispute... I want the truth..the whole truth... and noting but the truth... and all honest people want the same
Big deal. Half the people there will have their iPhones deployed. All the Bikers for Trump will have their iPhones deployed. A pepper spray vendor booth should do a brisk business.
Making a public announcement that street cops aren't allowed to use body cams could = rioters letting down their guard a bit, allowing 'other' security cams a better look.
Personally, I hope they turn firehoses on the bastards, then let the dogs loose, then shoot anyone who gets past the dogs.
Don't feel bad. It makes no sense. But here is my explanation:
