The queen of conservative talk radio, Laura Ingraham, is eyeing a Senate run in Virginia and a challenge to Hillary Clinton's running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine.
Knowledgeable sources said that several party insiders have approached the media giant to run and that she is considering it.
In preparation for a bid, her business partner, Peter Anthony, has begun buying website domains for Ingraham to use should she decide to move forward. It includes: ingrahamsenate.net, ingrahamsenate.com, ingrahamforvirginia.com and ingraham2018.com.
Ingraham wouldn't comment on any run.
While it would be considered an uphill fight, Ingraham brings her well-known personality and several influential backers to a race that could translate into immediate media and fundraising opportunities.
Ingraham also would come to the race with a powerful media enterprise behind her. Besides her popular radio show, she also heads the news site Lifezette.com.
What's more, she is close to President-elect Trump and was even rumored to be in the running for White House press secretary, a job given to Trump adviser and longtime Republican spokesman Sean Spicer. He is also the incoming White House communications director.
The Republican primary could be crowded. Both Reps. Barbara Comstock and Dave Brat are considering a bid, and Brat has already been singled out by Kaine as a top challenger. And there are reports that former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, a 2010 California Senate candidate, also wants to run in Virginia.
Ingraham, a Fox News contributor and former Supreme Court clerk, is also a New York Times bestselling author who has earned a reputation for delivering zingers. In fact, one of her books is titled Of Thee I Zing.

May be a blue state now but a lot of those lies will move once they start budget cuts
Tim Kaine is a big fat liberal pinata waiting for someone to smack with a stick.
Once Trump is in office and the DOJ starts enforcing the law again...Virginia will be in play.
She would have my vote!
It’s a midterm election and Kaine barely won in 2012...
Did Carly move?
That would be fun to watch.
If McAuliffe is gov., it would be tough. When is his term up?
You’ve got it wrong. Kaine, the fake Katholic, is very vulnerable with his pro-abortion record.
I’d put my ballot in her box any day.
I’ve always admired her and had a not-too-secret crush.
Election is this year..
Brat needs to stay put and help overthrow Ryan...he belongs in the House longer.
What they don’t mention here is Ingram’s support of Trump. Trump APPRECIATES supporters, particularly early supporters, and will pay back the favors. Much of Virginia is a 30 minute helicopter ride from the White House (or Andrews). Trump could show up there every week and hold rallies during the campaign (and barely miss being at the White House)...and OBVIOUSLY motivate a huge Republican turnout.
If I were Cain, I’d be trying to figure out a way to blackmail Laura out of the race as quickly as possible - or I’d be working on my concession speech.
Laura or Ivanka Trump will be the 1st U.S. President.
Love to see Kooky Kaine bite the dust!
Will VA Republicans learn from history? Or repeat it?
Cucinelli lost by about 40,000 votes. He got about 80,000 votes less than McDonell did. They had basically the same ideology.
Cucinelli lost because Republicans did not have a GOTV-Get Out The Vote effort. The Cucinelli people might try the excuse that it was those “other” Republicans who did not get out those “other” Republicans.
The lesson. Run a complete campaign. Regardless of who is the candidate, build the GOTV organization now. Get to know the voters now.
The GOP had the GOTV capability in VA.
They just abandoned Cuch, just like they abandoned Doug Hoffman
in NY23.
The Virginia Republican Primary election looks like it will be split nine ways to Sunday, between strong names, strong personalities and political strengths. This advantages one person... Kaine.
Laura is a terrific conservative and would make an excellent senator. But right now her first priority should be finding a husband and father for her three adopted kids.
Now she wants to join the gang.
Laura's speech at the convention in Cleveland was outstanding. I don't see Kaine winning any debate against her.
The memory of Carly falling off the stage and nobody noticing still gives me the giggles.
