Journalists piled on criticism after President-elect Trump shot back at Democratic Rep. John Lewis for questioning the legitimacy of the election, many calling attention to the fact that Lewis is a civil rights icon and seemingly ignoring the fact that Trump does not mention race in his tweets.
"Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to......mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results," Trump tweeted early Saturday. "All talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!"
Almost immediately Trump was decried by members of the media for "insulting" the black Georgia lawmaker.

You mad? He hate me?
If Lewis were an “Icon” of the civil rights movement, there would be something deeply wrong with it.
He’s successfully evolved from civil rights participant to entrenched, well-fed congressman of more than 30 years based on the fact he has no skills with which to support himself and his apparent addiction to the sweet life in DC. In this respect, he seems to share that longevity with most of the rest of the CBC, and indeed the democrat party. And it’s more than legitimate to ask how those in his district have benefitted from his decades in “public service.” The same should be asked of the other CBC loudmouths, like Maxine Waters, Frederica Wilson, Elijah Cummings and so on. For a suggestible answer, see the corruption trial of Corinne Brown.
Lewis would be perfect for next Star Wars alien planet visit - wouldn’t need any costume or makeup!
Jeff Sessions walked with John Lewis during a civil rights march in Alabama in 2015. The two of them were holding hands.
Pictures of this event were posted on FreeRepublic, but of course the lame stream media never shows these images because they don’t jive with the “Sessions is a racist” fake meme.
But we can't condemn the Democrat party for the high number of blacks who are murdered in Democrat run cities, can we?
It would prove Trump right if they were to do so.
“Doing something honorable or memorable in your life doesnt mean you should be given a pass when you behave like an a$$hole..”
Wrong. When you are an annointed disciple of MLK you are not to be criticized. Ever.
And Trump with a short tweet has thrown Lewis’s failure as a Congressman of a failed crime-ridden district back in everyone’s face
Ooo Rah
He can say ANYTHING and ANY response is RACISM!
John Lewis: "Donald Trump rapes children."
Donald Trump: "No I don't. That's absurd."
Media: "HOW DARE YOU! JOHN LEWIS IS A CIVIL RIGHTS GOD! YOU ARE A RACIST!!!!"
It’s the Khan family all over again.
a civil rights record is a black list
In fact, Breitbart offered a large cash reward for anyone with a video of anyone spitting during that Capitol scene .... more Progressive fake news.
If Trumps critique of Rep. Lewis is true, then Trumps calling out of Rep. Lewis is one of the reasons why patriots hired Trump.
Looks like Goodluck Johnathan of Africa fame. Anyway, civil rights vs high crime???
Well, I don't remember Lewis mentioning anything about the fabulous job Trump did in the reconstruction of the D.C.P.O. when he was running off the mouth about Trump's presidency being illegitimate.
What, he is above criticism?
Give me a break.
Evan McMullen “While you avoided the draft, John Lewis risked his life for equality in America. “
Interesting that Lewis somehow wasn’t drafted ....maybe because he was arrested too many times ?
Was at a number of social events with Lewis and Hank Johnson in my DC days.
Lewis was a half-senile tottering old man 6 years ago and I never saw Hank Johnson that he wasn’t staggering drunk.
Those who vote them into office get what they deserve.
