President-elect Donald Trumps inaugural committee has raised a record $90 million to cover the steep costs of next weekend's festivities, the Associated Press reported.
That far outpaces President Obamas $55 million in 2009 and $43 million in 2013, the AP reported.

“Are you talking about the renovated Post Office?
If so, be sure and fill us in!”
Yep. Friends have been joking we would get an old PO Box as a room.
I trust he has better taste than THAT! LOL!

When Obama did that this is what came to mind.
We are leaving for DC on Tuesday too. Staying at the Trump Hotel.
Need to put together a list of freepers who are going to be there. I have to work Thursday night, but hope to get a couple of hours sleep before driving to the Metro station.
Praying for good weather!
AMEN......
Who says I haven't hee hee....
Have the trip of a lifetime!!
Yes..pretty good for January in DC
Same goes for FR - if we believe in what it stands for, we need to donate.
I know you meant your excellent, spot-on post as sarcasm, but there is also a serious point to be made.
After the monumental failure of polling last year with "Brexit" and our election, why should anyone believe in polls done in between elections? In particular, polls that purport to tell us what "the American people" think about President Trump should be treated as the lying trash they are and will be throughout his presidency.
I know there are donations that have been given for the inauguration, approx $90M so far. I’m not sure if it is just for the balls or overall expenses. I would think it is for overall expenses, and then I’m sure that taxpayer funding will cover some portion of the expenses as well. Thankfully Trump is a prudent man and will not let the overall costs spiral out of control, like odingo did! But then odingo allowed for costs & expenses to spiral out of control in everything he did or touched.
Thanks!
Wow. This sounds incredible! :^)
Rest assured the media will focus on the protesters and violence. They will NOT give any positive coverage to Trump.
Mark my words.
“And hes going to skimp on the Greek columns.”
Nah. I think he should set up the Greek columns, then announce that he found these things in Obama’s bedroom, and doesn’t know what to do with them.
Catch up contributions from the snakes of dc
I felt that there were certain places, especially U of I Chicago, and San Jose, that “they” were simply not going to allow Mr. Trump to get close enough to where “their people” might have heard his message.
Also, I think anybody with the money and a space can have a ball - so Trump may have three “official” balls but there will be dozens of other ones.
$90 million to party. Waste of money. I liked how a character in a book I read once, who was elected president, did. He did not hold all this big money spending gala. He was sworn in in the Oval Office, shook people’s hands, then cleared the office except for his main helpers and got to work. He said something like, “the people did not elect me to party, they elected me to fix the problems that affect this nation. So, I am here to get to work, not party.” Then he got immediately down to work. I never have liked all this crap surrounding the new incoming president. It a high spending, all night drinking, doping and partying gala. And, before you yell, recheck your mind and think about it, YES, there will be “big names” using drugs at these parties. To think they won’t is simply silly. You can have your own opinions concerning these big spending gala’s, but I think they are a waste of money. Just the security to keep the rioters, terrorists and thugs from doing harm is going to cost millions upon millions upon millions. That money would, could, be used for better things. Just one man’s opinion.
