The Murdochs, father and sons, thought Kelly was going to be their way of cleansing Fox of Roger Ailes and his brand of diss-the-elites conservatism—and of letting them, after 20 years of Ailes’s control, set their powerful network’s agenda. Instead, the network, even without Ailes, now seems ever-more in the Ailes mold.

I think what was subtle and missed by many, was Trump's retort at the end of that back and forth with Megyn at the debate. Trump more or less said we need less political correctness in America, and we need... brains. That may have been an additional slap-down on the b*tch. She is an overpaid idiot.
Too time intensive? Meanwhile for LESS money at NBC she is going to do a daytime interview show, a Sunday News show, and some soft Today Show stuff.

How does a news show attract enough audience to pay these insane salaries when there is nothing interesting to report? Hmmnnn?
Yes he did, they hoped to bring Trump to a point that he would blowup on stage and they had security standing by to restrain and remove him on camera. His first question was a gotcha planned to box Trump into promising not to run third party, all that did was show all the rest as dishonorable liars.
You may be correct with regard to Kelly but, on the other
hand, you can’t possibly believe that questions about
Trump’s alleged attacks on women were not going to be
introduced by some debate moderator at some point. I
know if I were a candidate with dubious charges against
me hanging out there I would welcome the opportunity to
defend myself in a debate. The trouble with Kelly was
her accusatory method brought out the mad in Trump.
That’s my opinion, anyway.
Wouldn’t mind seeing Juan Williams going either.

That was the moment Kelly lost any credibility. It now has become all about her. During interviews you start to notice interjections about her importance. Lose-lose
