During Senator Jeff Sessions’, R-Ala. (C,78%) Attorney General confirmation hearing today in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Ted Cruz, R-Tex. (A, 97%) pointed out numerous Democratic hypocrisies that have been manifested in the past few years and during the hearing.
Democrats on the committee, especially Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. (F, 0%) had been grilling Sessions on whether he would uphold abortion laws in the United States if he becomes Attorney General. Senator Patrick Leahy, D, Vt. (F, 6%) interrogated Sessions on LGBT rights, questioning whether Sessions would uphold civil rights laws as Attorney General.
But did the Democrats care when Obama routinely flouted the law?
Ted Cruz wasn’t having it:

“When the Obama Justice Department sent millions of dollars of taxpayer money to sanctuary cities defying federal immigration law, the Democrats on this committee were silent. When the Obama administration refused to enforce federal immigration law…the Democrats on this committee were silent. When the Obama administration released tens of thousands of illegal aliens including rapists and murderers into the general population, Democrats on this committee were silent.”
Ted Cruz was kicking ass. And he wasn’t done. He pointed out Democratic hypocritical silence on Obama flouting the law and paying a ransom to Iran and for releasing Guantanamo terrorists without congressional approval.
Senator Cruz’s comments were met with acclaim from conservatives on Twitter:

Error of his ways? This newbie WashingtonFire says that what Cruz is doing has an ulterior motive behind it without telling us what he knows this to be so.
The man is FIGHTING for a qualified Senator to be the Attorney General for crying out loud and here we have someone bashing him for it instead of appreciating what he’s doing !!

This man, your hero, spent around 100 days almost mute on the subject the election, refusing to mention the name Donald Trump.
During that same period he was mute on the issue of Hillary Clinton.

Let’s go through these bizarre, inane assertions one-by-one.
The Polls Show Cruz Stole Iowa. Cruz outperformed the polls in Iowa by 3.8 percent; Trump underperformed by 4.3 percent. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio outperformed the RealClearPolitics poll average by 6.2 percent. So, did Rubio cheat? How about Ben Carson, who outperformed the polls by 1.6 percent? What absolute tripe. Trump wasn’t the only candidate who significantly underperformed the polls: Jeb Bush underperformed by 1.3 percent, Huckabee by 1.3 percent, Kasich by 1 percent. These were all within normal Iowa poll movement.
The Cruz Press Release Stole Votes From Ben Carson.
Fact: the Ben Carson campaign suspension rumor came from CNN, and that rumor originated with the Carson campaign. Trevor Loudon puts together the full timeline here, but here’s a brief summary: CNN reported at approximately 4:45 PM ET that Carson was going home to Florida after Iowa. Rep. Steve King (R-IA), a Cruz supporter, tweeted what everyone in the political world was thinking: “Carson looks like he is out. Iowans need to know before they vote. Most will go to Cruz, I hope.” At 5:08 PM ET CNN itself tweeted, “After the #IAcaucus, @RealBenCarson plans to take a break from campaigning.” A Cruz staffer then told precinct captains, “Breaking News. The press is reporting that Dr. Ben Carson is taking time off from the campaign trail after Iowa and making a big announcement next week. Please inform any Carson caucus goers of this news and urge them to caucus for Ted Cruz.” Apparently, Rubio also “pushed the narrative hard” that Carson was dumping out of the race, according to a tweet from Conrad Close, who identifies as a Rubio supporter. Cruz has apologized for the screw-up:
Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story. That’s fair game. What the team then should have done was send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out.
At it was, Carson outperformed the polling average by 1.6 percent, as mentioned.
Let’s not repeat a canard that occurred in the past please.

Good post. I could add a few things, but why bother. My only comment or advice for others is be very aware of those with such short selective memories and to remember, these political traitors and insiders masquerading as something else, are everywhere.
Ted Cruz made some mistakes, but he did end up campaigning for Trump in the end.

They asked him to go get out the evangwlical vite in michigan and he did. Trump campaign actually mentioned how much it helped in Western Michigan....it took a totalmteam effort and even of some folks were not at practice or didn’t come out of locker room for warm ups...at crunch time they helped get the job done and we won.

Excellent dissection of the illegality that was going on in the Obama years at the Just-us department. I don’t envy Sessions he’s going to have a hard time cleaning the Augean mess that Holder and Lynch have left, especially the embeds that they are leaving behind.

I am happy Mr. Cruz has Mr. Sessions’ back. I can forgive Ted for bad judgement during the race. It’s a blood sport. I hope he continues being a voice of reason.
I'm not a Trump hater, I voted for him. But I do think Cruz haters are unhinged.
