The soon-to-be former President Obama will take his last flight on Air Force One after the soon-to-be President Donald Trump takes office, the White House confirmed.
Citing tradition, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed that President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama would be leaving Washington D.C. on Air Force one after Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The pair will leave the White House for the last time aboard Marine One before Air Force One takes them someplace warm, according to their plans.
Obama has referred to his post-inauguration plans for years.
“I know what I’ll do right after the next president is inaugurated: I’ll be on a beach somewhere drinking out of a coconut,” he said in 2014, during an interview with Tumblr.

I hear a place down south where it is very toasty and warm. Yes this is normal. The call sign will not be Air Force 1. Normally it would be Special Air Mission #####.
Technically, it won’t be Air Force 1. Once he is no longer president, it just is called an ordinary plane. A very nice ordinary plane, but not AF1.

Do we have to pay for their return trip? Did we (taxpayers) prepay his hotel and resort fees for them and the 100 close friends that will likely be with them?
The plane is only Air Force One when the President of the United States is aboard. That means Air Force One has not flown in eight years, just a government airplane carrying a bigoted and ungrateful usurper. Even those who pretend the communist druggie is legitimate cannot pretend the plane is Air Force One once a real president in inaugurated in ten days.
Technically it will not be AF-1 since he will no longer be the President (Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!!).

From the article, they’re going to take Marine 1 from the White House, then take Air Force 1 to wherever they are going. Does that mean they’re going back to the WH, catch a helo ride to Andrews AFB, then leave DC? That part confuses me.
