Georgetown Professor Michael Eric Dyson is proposing the idea that white people should have an ‘Individual Reparations Account’ to make donations to black institutions and individuals.
The idea is part of his forthcoming book, “Tears We Cannot Stop: A Sermon to White America.”
Dyson made the argument during an interview with Ana Marie Cox in the January 8 edition of the New York Times Magazine.

At the end of your sermon, you do a “benediction” section, in which you talk about making reparations on the local and individual level: donating to groups like the United Negro College Fund or a scholarship program, but also, to cite your example from the book, paying “the black person who cuts your grass double what you might ordinarily pay.” That gave me pause!
Good! I used to say in church, “If the sermon ain’t making you a little bit uncomfortable, it ain’t effective.” Look, if it doesn’t cost you anything, you’re not really engaging in change; you’re engaging in convenience. You’re engaged in the overflow. I’m asking you to do stuff you wouldn’t ordinarily do. I’m asking you to think more seriously and strategically about why you possess what you possess.
I agree with reparations, but maybe this is my white privilege speaking: I can’t imagine actually doing that.
That is what I meant by an I.R.A.: an individual reparations account. You ain’t got to ask the government, you don’t have to ask your local politician — this is what you, an individual, conscientious, “woke” citizen can do.
But charity can’t be the end of it, right? The Koch brothers gave the United Negro College Fund $25 million, but I doubt you would consider them “woke.”

1. My third great-grandfather owned a few slaves. I was born ninety-two years after they were freed and thus never benefitted from their labor not caused them any pain. Hell — I didn’t even know the old man owned slaves until I discovered a record of his will.
2. I grew up in a mostly-white, blue-collar town. It was nothing fancy, but still a nice place to grow up. About thirty years ago, the demographics began to change. There was white flight. A lot of people sold their homes for cheap . Now the town is 80% black. Thirty percent of the homes are now abandoned or in ruins. One whole subdivision was bulldozed. Eighty percent of the people are on some kind of public
assistance. Crime is rampant. The school district, which was once among the better ones in the state, is now one of the worst.
Blacks need to start owning their problems.
They are scared to death of loosing black voters to president Trump.

If African Americans get reparations, then I demand reparations from Black organizations for the treatment by the Buffalo Soldiers who killed my ancestors. Cash will do nicely, Black folks.

The same with my great grandfather. I think the families of the northern soldiers are owed reparations by the black community.
I demand reparations from democrats for what Obama has done to American and its citizens.
How about BLM and Sharpton have reparation accounts for destruction in America?

Dyson is a two bit Marxist, nothing more, nothing less. I’m surprised he knows the word “reparations” and how to spell it. I suspect he plagiarized it from Valerie Jarrett.
So many of our fellow Americans have lost their ever lovin’ minds! God must have sent the delusion and it’s just getting stronger as time goes on.

what an awesome idea for assuaging white guilt! I’m gonna start my Individual Reparations Account tomorrow and deposit 2¢, which should be more than enough to compensate for any white guilt I might be feeling.

I guess these are the kind of people who’d be perfectly fine and think it fair with going after not only the children but grandchildren and greats of people who died before they could pay off their hospital bill. No, actually it compares to going after their neighbor that not only had nothing to do with the person’s debts but are in no way related!
Obama needs to pay as he’s the descendant of a slave master.
The can finance that IRA with their reparations for my great great great grandparents indentured servitude which was valued at 20x less than the value of a Negro slave. Since we had 20x less to work with, they can make it up by selling themselves, if need be....just sayin....fair is fair....
I already donated. I lost some blood and a broken wristwatch in an attempted mugging several years ago. Also, I personally and voluntarily donated 40 acres and a mule to every single person enslaved by me, my parents, my grandparents, great-grandparents, and my great-great-grandparents, and to each of the surviving descendants of slaves held by the past six generations of my family. I've done my share.
