For the life of me, I simply cannot understand the vacuous regard some hold for this so-called actress. I’m as old as she is and I have NEVER ONCE considered her desirable in the opposite-sex sort of way. To the contrary, she is to me the embodiment of your worst nightmare of an ex-wife coupled with a manifestation of your most horrid vision of her mother thrown in.

Her crone nose, her unpleasing voice and her total demeanor just makes me cringe.

From my early days as a crude man, “I wouldn’t #$%# her with your $#$%.”

I agree. I am 60 years old and have always been told she is so great. She just seems like a neurotic nut case with no appeal and always has.

Good grief! Since when do actors have to be sexually desirable to be great actors?

IMO, Streep isn't all that popular herself but is appreciated for the characters she has pretended to be.

She isn't known as a sex-kitten!

I think I’ve only seen her in two movies, both of them many, many years ago: The Deer Hunter and Silkwood. I thought she was pretty good as an actress in both of them, but not great. Actually, in Silkwood, I thought Cher (whom I personally think is a vacuous eggplant) turned in a better acting performance.

In the movie Manhattan Woody Allen cast her as his ex wife who became a lesbian and writes a book about her sex life with Allen. Maybe that is where you get her description. It sort of fits. :)

Unfortunately, Hollywood and feminism have destroyed the idea that "serious" actresses can be beautiful. Today, in order to be taken seriously, an actress can only be so beautiful. If Streep were any more attractive, she would be considered just another pretty face. I would compare her with Cate Blanchett. Both are reasonably attractive IMO, but neither are particularly stunning. But they are both award magnets.

Ever since I saw Streep in Fatal Attraction with Michael Douglas she has given me the creeps. Only movie I’ve ever seen with her in it.
