On January 7the day after the heinous attack in the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood international gun-free zonethe Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence Tweeted that you can carry a gun and ammo in a checked bag when you fly.

I am not saying that guns are legally permitted there, but there is no screening so the threat remains regardless of policy regarding air travelers.
The next jihadist with use his car to ram down the travelers lined up for cabs or loading their luggage in cars.
How about we ban jihadists and get this country back to normal?
He was already on the radar, they considered him “crazy” when he confessed that he felt he was being driven to kill for ISIS.
“Btw, gun has to be in a hard case with a lock and announced at check-in.”
Last time I flew out of NY with a gun I had to wait 30 minutes until they could get a sheriff’s deputy to inspect my carry permit and make sure the gun was unloaded. Lucky I got there plenty early or I would have missed my flight. When I flew out of Florida I notified the woman who checked my bags about the gun. She asked me if it was unloaded and in a hard locked case and never even bothered to inspect it.
I am not allowing Islamic terrorists to destroy our civil rights.
I am not allowing the Dem-Left to take our gun rights away in response to this terrorist murderer. As for mental illness, give me the name of an Islamic terrorist who is not suffering from it.
Very calculated and the news is hush-hush as they try to shift the cause of the violence to the Second Amendment.
Exactly. I've done it many times with no problems.
Last time I checked in with a fire arm, they made me take it out of the locked and cabled metal case inside my luggage (don’t want TSA to have an easy time stealing it), open the action and show that it was not loaded. I was weird to do that with everyone in line watching suspiciously. Yikes.
They then put a red tag on my bag saying there was a gun inside. BUT the counter guy at the last second tucked the tag inside my luggage and closed it. He said that he had to put the tag on the luggage but said that regulations did not say it had to be visible. Cool.
It’s misleading because you don’t carry checked baggage.
All of these laws just move the choke point from one location to another. Then the next choke point will become the shooting scene. Screen at the front door to the airport? Shooting scene is now outside the door. Move the checkpoint off the airport and bus people in afterwards? That becomes the new shooting scene. Moving where you do the checking just moves where you have the shooting.
Actually, Planned Parenthood just last year, won their SCOTUS appeal to overturn a law that would require them to live up to the same standards as every other outpatient medical facility. Their rabid supporters DEMANDED that PP be able to put profitability over women's health, making sure that they do not have to improve their standards of care, their facilities, or their doctors, even just up to the standards required of breast implant doctors or neighborhood clinics.
Ah, it’s not always like that.
I don't want to hunt for ammo and spend $25.00 for it every time I land in a new city, and then throw it away when I leave. I already own perfectly good ammo.
The last time I flew it was a bit more hassle. The lady at the checkout counter saw my gun when I put the tag inside the hard case and had a bunch of questions as she was in the market for the same model. Dallas Love Field.
“...carrying, even with a permit, did NOT allow you to carry inside airport buildings.”
I see. It’s one of those “gun free zones” apparently. I’ll steer clear.
I flew shortly after 9/11 and carried. The agent at the counter asked me to do the same (demonstrate that the weapon was cleared). I quietly asked “Right here?!” and she nodded yes. I cleared my weapon as discretely as I could and then locked it in the case, and returned the case to my suitcase.
They put a conspicuous red tag that just screamed, “Steal Me!” on the suitcase. I had anticipated this and pulled a small roll of duct tape from my pocket, wrapped the suitcase a couple of times, and then autographed it with a Sharpie right at the seam for the lid.
I was actually surprised when I saw it at the other end of my trip.
Title XLVI Chapter 790
790.06 License to carry concealed weapons
http://www.leg.state.fl.us/statutes/index.cfm?App_mode=Display_Statute&URL=0700-0799/0790/Sections/0790.06.html
12)(a)A license issued under this section does not authorize any person to openly carry a handgun or carry a concealed weapon or firearm into:
1.Any place of nuisance as defined in s. 823.05;
2.Any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station;
3.Any detention facility, prison, or jail;
4.Any courthouse;
5.Any courtroom, except that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom;
6.Any polling place;
7.Any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district;
8.Any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof; 9.Any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms;
10.Any elementary or secondary school facility or administration building;
11.Any career center;
12.Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose;
13.Any college or university facility unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile;
14.The inside of the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft; or
15.Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law.
(b).A person licensed under this section shall not be prohibited from carrying or storing a firearm in a vehicle for lawful purposes.
All that any security check does is move the chokepoint farther out the door. Easier prey.
“Keep in mind the Islamists have a long term view of how they will conquer the world... Just maybe the game plan for the Islamist shooting at FLL is to create new laws restricting guns” [and other civil liberties].
Just listened to an interview with a former interrogator who spent much time with Khalid Sheik Mohammed (KSM), and he said that is EXACTLY what KSM told him. They are trying to elicit a heavy handed govt response that dicks up our system for US in the long run, killing Americans is just a bonus along the way.
Yup. #14 was what I was referring to. Supposedly there was some legislation in FL that would have allowed carrying in to the airport recently. May be off the table now after the Ft. Lauderdale incident even though the assclown wouldn’t have followed any law anyway.
Brady bunch finally got one right - and they think it’s wrong....
