Federal law enforcement officials told NBC News that Santiago was undergoing treatment for mental health problems, complaining that he was hearing voices.
They say a few months ago, he walked into the FBI's office in Anchorage, Alaska, claiming that the CIA was forcing him to join ISIS. Officials say local police were called, and he went voluntarily to a mental health facility for treatment.
Santiago took Delta Flight 1088 from Anchorage to Minneapolis-St. Paul Thursday night, Jesse Davis, chief of police at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport confirmed. He landed Friday morning, and then took Delta Flight 2182 from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Fort Lauderdale. A firearm was his only piece of checked luggage, Davis said.

AND... five minutes after this was reported on FR, by TIGERCLAWS, someone had already predicted that this guy was a mental case being treated with drugs.
All over Twitter they are saying he took a Muslim name, Emir Mohammed Sikkim.
They have found posts where he asks for help mass downloading jihadi videos.
Don't know how many charts I read and patients I dealt with that believed the CIA was in their mind or they worked for them. We used to x-ray them as proof they had no tracking chips.
You left out part of the conversation.

He’s young, that mental illness gets going in the early twenties.
When he started having mental problems, how come the condition never caught up with the authorities about the need to remove the guy’s guns?
This guy, when he went to the FBI, could’ve been trying to setup an insanity self defense ahead of time. Maybe cause he doesn’t want the death penalty. That is what and Aurora movie theatre shooter tried to do. Son of Sam also tried to say claim he heard voices (he was faking)

I don’t know. Yes he’s young and in the range but the strange thing is from my past days is few schizophrenics really acted in a dangerous manner to others. It happened but it was rare compared to other mental issues. Was a nurse not a shrink. Too early to figure what the heck. Maybe he’s even playing the system by starting a historicity prior to his murder spree? Too early to do anything but speculate.

From last June, a possible similar situation was reportedly stopped in California when the planned shooter called the local police himself and turned himself in saying something about the CIA and he did not want to be a patsy and die. this happened about six days after the Orlando nightclub shooting.
The California incident occurred the same day/or nearly the same day a young British man tried to take an officer’s weapon to shoot Mr. Trump at a rally.

I think we are on to something. Air Canada is now saying Santiago was NOT ON THE FLIGHT, and they never checked in a gun.
