News this week is that Megyn Kelly is off to NBC. Waiting to hear about the bidding war that clearly did not happen. Now starts Megyns decline into obscurity, remembered as someone who was a hot commodity for a very short while.
Until it all became about Megyn.
What Megyn, Greta, and other passing Fox celebs do not grasp is the importance of the Fox time slot.
When Greta departed, Brit Hume did a perfectly good job with news and commentary. Now Tucker Carlson is delivering an outstanding show with positive reviews from about everyone. Before that slot, Tucker was almost unknown nationally. Now Greta will be. The slot made her, and without it, she is going to learn that her audience has little personal affection for her. The slot, however, will do fine.
I hope Fox will put someone there like Sharyl Attkisson, who is a true reporter. Maybe she is FNC material. Fox will decide.
Over the next months, we can watch NBC make a large investment in launching the new Megyn shows, only to watch initial audiences peter away. Perhaps Megyn will end up with an Ashleigh Banfield-type show nobody watches, now that the novelty of Ashleigh eyeware has long worn off.

Typical liberal mentality. I’ll do the same things others did but do it right. I’m special.
She chose....poorly. Many times.
I watched her “goodbye” last night. You’re right. She tried to be warm and fuzzy, just doesn’t come off.
Yes, I miss Greta. She was actually fair and balanced and wouldn't take spin/parsing from her guests.
The “left demographic” gets divided up between ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/MSNBC... which means maybe you get 20% of the left half of the country for your viewing public. Fox gets 100% of its half of the audience.
So, a jump to NBC from Fox may not be the best idea. Unless NBC has decided to compete with Fox for its half of the audience, in which case it should be trying to recruit Hannity.
But I won’t miss Kelly. Now if they could send Chris Wallace and Shep Smith to NBC to join her over there. That would be the trifecta.
I always liked Greta. She kept things pretty civilized. Polar opposite of Kelly..
Move Tucker to 9PM and get Greta back in her old time slot.
I think the little b*tch blew herself up when she launched her vendetta against Donald Trump. The effects of her conduct on Fox viewership had to have been instantaneous - and then either she or her masters doubled down. Hey Megan you odious little bolshie, ESAD! We are going to love Sheryl Atkinson - she’s an outstanding journalist - totally committed to the truth, not her name in lights.
Would love to see Sharyl Attkinsson in one of the slots. EIther move Tucker to 9PM or Hannity back to 9PM and put Sharyl in their slot.
I do not believe she will do it as she wants to stay independent of the networks.
Hey. Kelly will get her paychecks and for her, that’s all that matters. At least we don’t have to put up with her self important shenanigans any longer.
All of Trump’s misbehaviors happened back when he was still a Democrat.
(no idea if it’s true or not, but it could be a good talking point)
I'd say this was a great decision she made for herself.
Thousands of heads just exploded on reading that paragraph. Evidently Mark is not losing his audience as so many here have claimed and no doubt for the reasons expressed in this article.
I agree!
Going to be funny watching Trumps FCC pick yank NBCs commercial radio license for a half year for “ethics and un-American activity violations”.
Tucker Carlson is bright, energetic, and sharp on TV. However, he really needs to be schooled in the art of doing an on-air interview. I’ve seen so many posts here on FR from people who think he makes great points in these interviews, but who end up tuning him out because of his constant interruptions and talking over these guests.
Yeah, how’d jumping the FOX work out for Kiran Chetry?
Assuming she still had a choice. Sounds like she was being pushed out of Fox. When you create a dip in the ratings like that, your choices become limited.
