For the next week, not only will there be no U.S. Navy aircraft carrier in the Middle East, but there will be no American aircraft carriers deployed at sea anywhere else in the world, despite a host of worldwide threats facing the United States.

I don’t know about conventional versus nuclear, but five carriers based in Norfolk gives me the heebie jeebies. We could use Savanna Puerto Rico, or even New York as alternatives.

My first thought is, what does Obama know that we don’t know?

It’s almost as if he’s hoping for a 2017 Pearl Harbor.

Congress needs to step in with this guy.

I was thinking the same thing. It is like Obama is setting us up for a “fundamental transformation” with the aid of the Russian military.

Think about it; demonizing the Russians with all sorts of allegations and imposing punishment on them economically and diplomatically,
Then he has taken down our military as much as he could. Fewer strategic deployed nukes than the Russians, below New Start limits while the Russians still a few hundred above, aviation maintenance issues in every branch, now all our carriers are stationary targets.

If Putin really is the threat to us the democrats have suddenly realized (after all these years of adversity we have had with the Russians),,, if the Russians really are the threat to us and the west in general that they really are and the democrats have just recently figured out, then we truly are in danger from now until Trump can turn it around because our enemies have a golden moment of weakness that the US is in...

Yes, actually two versions:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPK-6_Vodopad/RPK-7_Veter

We no longer have Subroc or any other tactical naval weapons.

Yorktown was in dry-dock at the Norfolk Naval shipyard on Dec 7. She had been damaged in a strong storm a few days before while on escort duty. Repairs were completed and she sailed for the Pacific on December 16th.

Maybe at home they can help to defend the southern border, the vulnerability of which is a far bigger security threat than anything happening in the Middle East or elsewhere.

Yeah, deploy those aircraft carriers on the Rio Grande, LOL!

The Navy posts it on its own website: Link

There are no navy bases in Savanna, Puerto Rico, or New York City.

You can also see the carriers from I-64 and the Norfolk Naval Shipyards from the southern by-pass. So much for security huh?

So what's your suggestion? Move the navy base or move the interstate?

Shut down all bridges into Norfolk! It's the only thing to do!

I'm kidding! I'm kidding! :0)

My brother was a career Navy man. He's retired now but still lives in Norfolk. I can imagine that those bridges are pretty damned secure. Any car stopped on them would attract instant attention from the authorities. I'll have to ask him about that sometime.

Actually, I think it’s a good thing if it is temporary, say for the next three weeks.

I sure would have carrier groups deployed near areas where Obama might get a vindictive hair up his butt and make some very bad, revengeful decisions. I am hoping that the military was concerned about this and engineered this lame duck vacuum.

The Russian carrier is a smoke belching POS and not in working order.

But just the same, Onambla is doing everythig he can to have the USA attacked before inauguration day.

That’s what he’s trying to do, a major strike on the US, and the resulting chaos could leave him in power for some time to come.

Does no one remember Pearl Harbor? You keep your fleet scattered.

Because we haven't figured out how to make carriers invisible yet.
