For a few weeks now I have joined my fellow partisan Democrats, drinking when I was not crying.
The awful memories of those stunned TV commentators snatching defeat from the jaws of a great early exit poll victory. The hard-earned accomplishments of the past 8 years now at risk due to and an unfit, unwelcome new president. Looking ahead to the damage inevitably inflicted by a unified Republican government on the environment, the social safety net and global leadership.
Yet as a new year begins, I find myself past the 5th stage of grief and on to an unexpected new state of mind: optimism.
Because looking beyond the ashes of 2016 and the inevitable initial defeats of 2017, I see immense opportunities for my party and our capacity to lead our country.
Its a great time to be a Democrat. There are several reasons why.
First and most important, Democrats remain the party of the future. We are the young, the diverse, the tolerant and the educated. Trumps negative appeals to fear, intolerance and hatred sow the seeds of future Republican defeats and marginalization.

WOW.
Rhetoric 101.
“Because looking beyond the ashes of 2016 and the inevitable initial defeats of 2017, I see immense opportunities for my party and our capacity to lead our country. “
Funny, Harry Reid and I both see an Old Age Home.
Great Satire, even if not intended.
I don’t think he is part stage 1... Denial.
First and most important, Democrats remain the party of the past. We are the aging, the monolithic, the intolerant and the ill-educated.
Bwahahahaha!!
LOL!
May, 1945: Why it’s actually a great time to be a Nazi.

They are coming to take me away, ha ha ho ho he he
This is the perfect commentary to save until nov 2018 and show to my dem wife but not before then.
**Representing every state and fresh ideas, leaders such as New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, incoming California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Louisiana Congressman Cedric Richmond, and Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth fill out a fantastic bench of creative, capable, inspiring national figures. Leaders like these are ready to define the future of the Democratic Party, and Im excited to help them do it.**
This guy is delusional. But I am happy that he thinks these politicians represent the future of the Dem Party.
“We are the young, the diverse, the tolerant and the educated.”
Educated... “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
I think he meant, “indoctrinated.” For a liberal that makes more sense.
I thought The HIll was conservative leaning. Is this a satire?
The party of the future- unchangeably wedded to a 1950’s model of health care financing, a 1930’s model of public pensions and an 1870’s model of public education.
Interesting how the party of welfare and dependency suggests they are the most educated. Once that preposterous lie was written I lost interest. Fact is, they are they are the least educated.
Well, they can probably only move upwards from here...and that witch DID get more votes (just in the wrong places). This election saw an independent barely beat a Democrat; there wasn’t even a Republican in the race.
