U.S. News compiled data on car thefts from the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 2014 the most recent year for complete data from the bureau to determine which of the 100 largest metro areas in the country had the highest rate of car theft.
Albuquerque, New Mexico, takes the top spot for highest rate of car theft, with a total of 6,131 thefts in 2014 and 676.9 thefts per 100,000 people. The City of Albuquerque acknowledges its high rate of auto theft on its website, noting New Mexicos shared border with Mexico gives car thieves added incentive because they can take the stolen vehicles across the border and sell them.

Sometimes, auto-correct challenges Al Baby on these threads.
Who said it was “deer” blood?
It was my SPORTSCAR that was stolen.
Apple’s auto-correct is the goofiest I’ve ever known.
Oh, Californification
There already is one, it is called a "check point" at the international border.
Wake up
NJ used to have THREE of the top ten; the problem now is that everyone nails everything down, and the imported Third Worlders have no illusions about who their new neighbors are...
California with its high illegal Mexican population.
“Why might that be?”
It’s cuz of all them Blue Eyed Blonds without tatoos !!
That whole tribe is the cause of the worlds problems, doncha no ??
“You couldnt pay me to live in California.”
You, taxpayers, are ALREADY PAYING /illegal strangers to live there!
“All are sanctuary cities...”
First thing I noticed too, as well as most, if not all, of those listed are in states that give driver’s licenses to illegals.
“There is no such thing as an old car here.”
That’s the case all around the nation. A large portion of all the vehicles that would’ve been bought by people who can’t afford newer ones, were taken out of commission to save Mama Erf through the “cash for clunkers” program, as well as the many being ‘donated’ to non-profits for a tax write off each year.
“the article mentions SF as a hot bed of car theft.”
I had a work van stolen there many years ago. It also was doubling as my home since I had turned it into a basic RV. Had all my worldly possessions in it, including all the tools I used to make a living. Never got it back.
ABQ has a Pub mayor, but until November, we had a state constitution that essentially required perps be released on bond. That, teenage gang members and proximity to Mexico (for both vehicles and parts) make it easy to steal and get away. Also, lots of travelers and folks staying in an ABQ motel overnight find their car/truck with belongings gone in the morning.
There’s no lower human being than someone who would steal a man’s tools.
How did Philly and New Jersey fall by the wayside? They’ve slipped.
Stealing a man’s tools that he uses every day to make a living with absolutely ranks up there as one of THE worst things, probably worse than stealing his woman. I think there’s a special place in hell for those types.
