A new oil portrait of President-elect Donald Trump was unveiled Wednesday and will join the C-SPAN presidents collection.
The picture is the first portrait created of Trump since he was elected. It will be added to the 44 other presidential portraits as part of C-SPAN's "American Presidents: Life Portraits" exhibit.
The exhibit has been touring the country since 1999.
The portrait was produced by Chas Fagan, a North Carolina painter and sculptor.
Fagan said one of the more challenging parts of creating the portrait of the president-elect was his eyes. "In most photos, his eyes are in shadow and difficult to see, in part due to his distinctive brow line," Fagan told C-SPAN.
"But eyes are such a recognizable feature, and necessary to give a portrait warmth and personality, so I worked to give them a bit more prominence. I think the result is that we have a softer look into his face than we often get from public media photography."

Good looking portrait of a guy who won’t keep still for very long. Too bad LeRoy Neiman isn’t alive to catch the real spirt of Trump’s energy. Maybe he did?

I wish his hair looked better in portrait.Still it is better than we see most of the time. I do not like the pompadour nor the low part an comb over nor the DA nor the blond over gray.I am 79 and tried all that stuff. He needs a presdential makeover and that includes losing 40 LBS.

You are right. The portrait does have two different eye colors.
Makes me wonder...does Trump in real life have the same color in each of his eyes??

I think one eye looks darker because it is in shadow. The light strikes the other eye at a different angle and reflects. His eyes are light in color so the effect is more noticeable.
I think his eyes are probably a pale grayish blue, which can appear to change color depending on what he wears. That's what mine do.
The artist painted the portrait using an Old Master technique called "grisaille", which uses an underpainting of one color. Then sheer layers of color are applied over top of the underpainting to develop the final painting. He used a warm sepia brown as his underpainting to infuse the portrait with an overall golden glow.

Trump IS losing some weight lately. Hope he doesn’t carry
the dieting to extremes.

I saw this portrait yesterday on Drudge; I love it! Very Presidential!
Barry’s pics would be better suited on Black Velvet, and offered as a prize for sinking 3 baskets at a carnival attraction.

Coloration and rendering of the unusual hairstyle is good, but the likeness misses below the eyes. Nose too long, chin and lower lip too broad.

It’s presentable but amateurish and not well done at all. A middle schooler could have done a better job, charged less and it would have been a better told story.

The only way we know it’s Trump is the hair. Cover up the hair and it could be anyone.
