A "shameful" abstention by the U.S. in a United Nations Security Council vote Friday allowed passage of a resolution condemning Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank.
The resolution was put forward by New Zealand, Malaysia, Venezuela and Senegal after Egypt withdrew it Thursday under pressure from Israel and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
It was adopted with 14 votes in favor, to a round of applause, after U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power abstained. It is the first resolution the Security Council has adopted on Israel and the Palestinians in nearly eight years.
Reaction from U.S. Republicans and Jewish leaders around the world was swift and sharp.
"This is absolutely shameful," said House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis. "Today's vote is a blow to peace that sets a dangerous precedent for further diplomatic efforts to isolate and demonize Israel."
The Obama White House, under heavy pressure from the Israeli government and its supporters to veto the resolution, kept everyone guessing until the vote whether it would stop shielding Israel from council resolutions and permit it to pass by abstaining.

I will bless them that bless thee. I will curse them that curse thee. I’d hate to be on the wrong side of God.
There were consequences-many Jews with Soros help-but no consequences for Soros.
He pretended to be a Christian.

You can see for yourself in Soros’ own words.
We have so much to look forward to in 2017—President Elect Donald Trump, Senate and Congress. Help is on the way.
Happy F-n Hannukah to Israel from the muslim in chief. He has no idea He just spit in the eye of God! Or maybe he does.
I can understand in some ways why Britain and France both voted for it, they have substantial populations of mudslimes living within their countries. They voted out of fear. I can understand China voting for it, they are communists and simply hate religion.
I can't understand Russia voting for it. They are a Christian nation, a nation that understands and has taken strong actions against muslime terror. Why did they feel the need to attack who should be their their best ally against the horde?
The UN is condemnable. Abolish it.
Hey, U.N. you feeling lucky today? or,
Go ahead, U.N., make my day.
Fabulous lamb. More sheep than people.
So Obama did this out of spite? What a punk.
The most populous & most powerful Christian nation’s gift to the Jews for the Sabbath & Chanukah.
Esau vs. Jacob.
This gift (with a divided Jerusalem...) should make the news in other ways...through 1/1.
Note: Christmas eve in America and the top story* is America f’ing Israel.
You just can’t make this stuff up.

Can’t say I understand Russia’s vote either. One step closer to Ezekiel38.39. They’ve never had good relations with their Jews. Obama may have started another war that is certain.
Fortunately, this will be reversed in a month and the world knows it.
NO, I don’t believe the majority of the media.
However, that article is by a #nevertrump Evangelical who explains why Obama got more evangelical votes than Clinton did. Evangelicals turned out more for Romney than they did Trump for similar reasons.
Either the exit polls are wrong for both Jews AND evangelicals (imo, that’s most likely the case given what we just saw with polling this past election), or evangelicals supported Obama the same percentage Jews supported Trump.
Since there are way more evangelicals in this country than Jews, that would mean more evangelicals supported Obama by a significant margin.
Thank you for recognizing the eternal covenant between Hashem and Israel.
Thanks.
Jon Voight is a rare treasure - I trust his opinion.
This vote was going to go against Israel no matter what.
Most of the world sees Israel as a colonial power, and hate them.
That’s a slippery slope. The list of adjectives that could be applied goes on and on. I’d hate to leave one out and offend anyone.
