The borough is considered deep blue, but there are red zones too. Consider Dyker Heights. It is no secret that the vast majority of Brooklyn residents, 79% to be exact, voted for Hillary Clinton on November 8. Its a large borough, though, and out past the rapidly gentrifying brownstone neighborhoods and downtown glass high-rises that have become Brooklyns national representation, things can look different. While they may be in the minority in the city, some neighborhoods at the southern and eastern edges of Brooklyn have quite a bit in common with Trumps electorate.

I live on Staten Island, which went for Trump.
I’d wager those neighborhoods in Brooklyn that went for Trump are middle class Italians and Jews.
All of my middle class Jewish friends in Brooklyn might not be as conservative as me, but they won’t vote dem!!
Many of those who did not vote for Trump either don't work or don't have to work.
True. Trump is very popular, especially in South Shore, SI, and parts of Bay Ridge, Glendale, Middle Village, City Island, etc.
Nice map
Can’t resist pointing out something that would drive the Dems nuts: on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where I live, about 30% of voters went for Trump. Even on the lefty Upper WEST Side of Manhattan, at least 20% of voters went for Trump. Also, look up the stats for Beverly Hills, California: something like 25% of voters there went for Trump. It’s a canard that even supposedly liberal bastions are monolithic. There are conservatives — or just people with common sense — lurking everywhere!

Man, even with illegals gone, NY and CA are tough.
But Rudy won a lot of people over after his first term.
Even liberals don’t like being unsafe, at least some of them.
I’d rather NYers stay here than dilute the southern states. :)
Besides, their BS laws don’t much affect Staten Island and some neighborhoods in Brooklyn much.
At least safety wise.
We have our own “laws” :)
You tell 'em, even though, many here won't believe the truth; sadly.
BRAVA; more facts! I LOVE FACTS! :-)
Outside the 4 boroughs, Trump won New York State.
I’m glad that you survived the election...there were a couple of nights when I wasn’t sure if your blood vessels would make it.
I bet that Borough Park and Williamsburgh went for Trump, although I haven’t seen a breakdown.
Really, I thought that Trump would carry NY state outside of Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Albany. I was wrong, I guess.
What industry are you in, and what part of Manhattan do you work in, Sam, that most of the people you work with supported Trump?
Looks like Hillary won the big cities. She took Erie county (Buffalo), Monroe County (Rochester), Omondaga County (Syracuse), Tompkins County (Cornell University/Ithaca), Albany County (Albany), Schenectady County (just north of Albany County), Clinton County (Plattsburgh; not a big city; on the far northeast of the state), Columbia County (Hudson; also not a big city); Ulster County (Kingston, New Paltz); Westchester and Rockland Counties (just north of New York) and Nassau County (the county in Long Island nearer to NYC).
How would you rate the burroughs from most conservative to least? I`m guessing Staten Island first followed by Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Manhatten, in that order. Does that sound about right?
Good call. There’s still some neighborhoods in the Bronx that are ethnic white and republican.
Staten Island is WAY in first, Queens has more of those neighborhoods like Brooklyn, and I can’t think of a single republican enclave in Manhattan. Little Italy isn’t Italian anymore, Germantown isn’t German anymore and Hell’s Kitchen certainly ain’t Irish anymore!
I’m not sure about the Bronx/Brooklyn order. But I think you’re right. Demographics have changed so much.
There’s always next time, but like I said before, I’d rather the liberals stay here than pollute southern or swing states.
Ah, I just get mad about other stuff lol. Sicilian temper is around year round.
I’m not happy at all with the margin of victory on Staten Island. Rudy got 82 percent when he won.
I need to get to the bottom of what happened here.
Are we suffering the same fate as some southern states?
Morons moving here from other boroughs for a better place for their kids but bringing their liberalism with them?
I’ll be ####ed if that’s the case.
