Great paring of pictures there. That one of Bill was when those who have credibly accused Bill of raping them, were at the debate, and he is looking over their way. If looks could kill is all I can say.

Yes, against a competent Republican. Newt would’ve lost badly. Do you not remember that he folded like a cheap suit during the budget showdown of ‘95 and was the most unpopular GOP figure in 1996 ? 20 years later, he has never recovered from his unpopularity.

Kemp’s performance as Dole’s running mate was a total fiasco. He would not have done any better as the Presidential nominee. Giuliani would not have gotten the nomination because he was viewed as a social left-winger and didn’t have the kind of respect as a leader until after 9/11.

I don't know that I can agree with you. The females were enamored with Bill Clinton. It really was more of a beauty contest as far as women were concerned back then. He also captured the younger voters much like Obama did. For blacks Clinton was almost as good as a black President as well. For newly minted Americans who were granted amnesty, it was going to be a Democrat they voted for too.

It might have been closer, but I can't state unequivocally that Newt would have won. But I would have loved seeing what would have happened.

I never listened to another thing Dick Morris had to say after that election since he had aided and abetted a 2nd Clinton term.

He would have been destroyed by a competent Republican.

If Bush had been competent he would have won easily in 1992.

It's harder to say that anybody could have dislodged Clinton in 1996.

The economy was in Clinton's favor and Perot siphoned off enough votes to ensure Clinton's reelection.

Webb ran this year but was gone within the first few weeks.
= = = = = = = = = = = = =
I think he looked around and didn’t like what he was up against and didn’t want to ‘ruin’ himself for the future.
I don’t mean ‘afraid’, I mean the whole crew was very tainted.
DA O’Malley couldn’t figure that out....
Webb is one D I could probably vote for - especially considering what our choices (R) have been for the last few elections....
George Allen took Webb to lightly and was trying to ‘handle’ him like JF’nKerry.....
Apparently NO ONE in Allen camp smart enough to point out the difference...

It wouldn’t have taken much to beat Clinton in his 2nd try and just about anyone should have taken BO out for his 2nd....

No Clinton has EVER won a majority of the popular vote in a presidential election. Never. Ever.

There is no such thing as a popular vote in our Presidential elections. You can’t win or lose that which does not exist.

You're right. However it rankled Clinton intensely that he never won 50% of the popular vote.

I say we should rub it in, every chance we get.

“Yeah they are going down hard and everyone knows it.”

Don’t be surprised if the Clinton’s buy their way out of this. They will go away and it’s going to cost them the foundation which they will be more than happy to give up. I’m also willing to bet a lot of people in both parties will be happy to see it go as well as business leaders, dignitaries and dictators.

That foundation is dirty and everyone is dancing around it.

"It's harder to say that anybody could have dislodged Clinton in 1996."

1996 was tough. I always thought Phil Gramm would have had the best shot at dethroning Slick, but he got squeezed out by Dole on the moderate side, and Robertson on the conservative side and never got enough traction to get the nom.
