The New York Times is calling for an end to the Electoral College.
Americans would prefer by overwhelming majorities to elect a president using a popular vote system, the newspapers editorial board said in a piece published Monday.
They understand, on a gut level, the basic fairness of awarding the nations highest office on the same basis as every other elected office to the person who gets the most votes, the editorial said.

Sure — Let NY and LA choose the president every time. What a deal!
Stupid liberals. Trump would have won the popular vote if the election was based on winning such. Look at the size of his campaign rallies sans celebrity appearances like Hildebeast. Secondly, many republicans in solid blue states didn’t even bother to vote in 2016 because they knew their vote didn’t matter under electoral college rules. My 3 siblings living in SoCal are an example. Why bother to vote when you have no chance of winning. But in a popular vote contest, every vote matters even in the bluest of states...
No!
Now go to your room and don’t come out until it’s clean.
Absolutely false.

No we do not overwhelmingly want the EC to end!
Times? Print is dead (Egon Spengler)
And leftist tabloids are really dead.
And Trump would have won the popular vote. He would have just realigned his strategem to get all those California/NY votes that would have gone to him if he had rallies and spent money there.
I am calling for an end to illegals voting. Then we will see about that popular vote.
As wikileaks showed us, Satanism is the religion of the elites. Satan desires globalism so he can get back to controlling the world like he did when Rome ruled. Mob rule in America is necessary so he can enact his plans against American conservatives and all other conservatives in his way...
George Soros, Obama, Clinton and the DNC spent hundreds of millions of dollars electing partisan Democrats as Secretaries of State in key swing states to help rig the election for Hillary Clinton
Way back when in ancient history , like September, The Times and the rest of the Democrat propaganda machine were pushing the Electoral College as “ a vital fire wall to protect the country from Trump's populism”
Yes, the 57 or so counties that Hillary won would like to exert their control over the 3000+ counties which Trump won.
>>They understand, on a gut level, the basic fairness of awarding the nations highest office on the same basis as every other elected office to the person who gets the most votes,
But they don’t understand what the name of our country REALLY means, do they?
Well, if overwhelming majorities of Americans really support the change, that should make it a piece of cake to get 2/3 of the House, 2/3 of the Senate, and 3/4 of the states to pass the required amendment.
Go for it - this should be easy to wrap up by Easter, Memorial Day at the latest. /s
Seems more like cerebral syphilis to me.An advanced case,in fact...one that's been brewing for decades.
I call for the end of free speech for the NY Times.

47% want to keep Electoral College, up from 35% in 2011
Republicans shift decisively in favor of Electoral College
Most Americans correctly answer that Hillary Clinton won popular vote
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Americans’ support for keeping the Electoral College system for electing presidents has increased sharply. Weeks after the 2016 election, 47% of Americans say they want to keep the Electoral College, while 49% say they want to amend the Constitution to allow for a popular vote for president. In the past, a clear majority favored amending the U.S. Constitution to replace the Electoral College with a popular vote system.
So does the Slimes also “advocate” for the abolition of the two senators per state requirement?
I mean, it’s unequal representation, right Sulzberger?
What’s your take, bro?
it would be interestingness to see how many times in the past liberals have won the popular vote- I’m guessing that nearly every election dems won- since there are more liberals in larger states-
I’m sure the genius philosophers at the NYT put as much thought into it as our Founding Fathers did.
Hey, I have a better idea: FONYT!
