VLADIMIR Putin has promised to “step up” his fight against terrorists following this afternoon’s horrific attack in Ankara.

e said the assassination of his country’s ambassador to Turkey was “clearly a provocation” and vowed vowed to make those responsible “feel the heat”.

Mr Putin said this evening: “This murder is clearly a provocation aimed at undermining the improvement and normalisation of Russian-Turkish relations as well as undermining the peace process in Syria promoted by Russia, Turkey, Iran and other countries interested in solving this conflict in Syria.

"The only response we should offer to this murder is stepping up our fight against terror."

I wonder if a tactical nuke on their headquarters would get the message across.

Mecca, at its most populated time of year.

Trump and Putin have now become "natural" allies.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Illary submitted her resume to Vlad ... she wants to negotiate this fiasco; she needs the job. It's boring at home.

Yes it would and one would be careful to romanticize a tyrannical brutal dictator thug as is Putin. Don’t get me wrong I hope he does the job HOWEVER many in this post seem to be taken by the cult of personality with both Putin and Trump and given up their principles which is so easy to do in a populist movement.

Let’s not forget Putin himself as assisinates political opponents and journalists. But hey the ends justify the means eh? Because it’s so en vogue and chic to support the populist majority

Vlad had better get busy before Trump gets in office if he wants to be the one who obliterates ISIS.

He is going to have serious competition real soon. So far, he has had a free ride.

Russia has a long history with Iran. And the Communist/socialist element existed in Iran prior to the Russian revolution of 1918 and had ties to Lenin himself.

ICP, Iranian Communist Party’s fortunes ebbed and flowed during various periods, subjected to suppression by Reza Shah, it changed names and went to ground for a period. Allied with the Axis Powers in WWII, Iran was occupied in 1941 by the Allied Forces, Russia in the north and GB in the south. Post war restoration of Shah’s son again saw increased revolutionary activity by the ICP which at some point became the Tudeh Party, with the second Shah taking strong suppressive action against them.

All of the above is merely a capsule history of Russian and Soviet involvement in Iran. The communist party never surfaces in daylight without the secret cadres remaining ‘dark’. So my best guess is that Putin and the FSB/KGB still have access to the old diehard networks and have better intelligence on the ground than any of the western powers. Certain to have a more realistic awareness than the outgoing Golfer and his minions. Be interesting to see the old KGB files on the Golfer and Valerie Jarrett.

What nobody will say is that the only way to obliterate ISIS is to obliterate Islam. ISIS is obeying the dictates in the Koran.

You're right. That's why the only good Muslim is a "bad" Muslim.

When he gets into it, there will be such a howl as never heard before - folks will be praying for us to waterboard terrorists as the softer, gentler option....

He will eviscerate the first captives as an example.

Aren’t you being a little harsh on Obama? I mean, surely, he is planning his response to obliterate ISIS too, for murdering our ambassador, right? He has a few weeks left...

Well, if Russia eliminates ISIS, it will save us lives and money. Maybe we can find it in our hearts to thank them for doing the job.
