Froufrou Fifth Avenue resembles a police state.
Officers wielding gigantic guns guard Trump Tower, where President-elect Donald Trump conducts all transition business, and soon lots of presidential business, too. Shoppers patronizing the stores, cafes or public gardens inside must endure layers of security screening. Streets and sidewalks are barricaded; traffic is snarled; and costumed buskers milk money from the looky-loos obstructing the entrances to Gucci and Tiffany.
The challenges of securing this 58-story building in a high-density neighborhood will, by Inauguration Day alone, drain $35 million of local taxpayer money. Who knows the additional costs to commerce and property values?

BTW, the SOP if for the Feral Gubmint to provide the President Elect with 120,000 sf of office space in DC, fully furnished...sounds like Trump might be saving the US taxpayer some money.
Hotels, restaurants and shops within a mile of Trump are doing a full capacity business right now. Really doubtful that any of them are complaining. Their owners would likely take a slap at this young woman for speaking up.
You should see what Kailua is like when Obama spends his extended winter vacations there. Streets closed off, heavily armored caravans, the ocean closed off and patrolled by the coast guard, people can’t go on the beach, people get stuck in multi-hour traffic jams as he’s being ferried about.
Any mention of New York also seizing the Clinton offices? No? Surprising!!

All guns appear to be “gigantic” when you have a populace like New Yorkers who have been effectively disarmed for years.
The NYC solution is simple.
Just raise taxes to cover the cost.
