I always check for Trump’s tweets. Love it that he communicates this way. I just cringe a little when he makes a spelling error. He’s got one up there now - ridiculous. He has rediculous....I used to make this error because that’s how the word sounds, but I just remember it’s from ridicule.

FREEPERS know that feeling, especially when our post button reflex finger is faster than our editing.
If you do research and read original historical documents you will find that spelling in an unconventional manner is fairly common. I don’t attribute the recorder of sworn testimony to the Virginia commission of 1775 investigating real estate scams spelling differences to ignorance.
Spelling is merely convention agreed on by English teachers to have power over students. Dictionaries gave “preferred” but not absolute spellings
